Deoxys - Defense Forme's power comes from its titanic defense, not so much its moveset. Zen Headbutt and Psycho Boost are threatening to select counters, like Mega Gengar, but are not even mildly threatening to Dark Types. Counter is the exact opposite case; threatening Dark Types, but laughable to Ghost Types. In terms of coverage, Rock Slide and Thunderbolt are good, but not particularly threatening to most counters.
Overview
The once-and-former PvP king, Deoxys - Defense has not aged well... at all. It's lost practically all of its once-and-former viability, and is now little more than a dex filler. Right now it's not worth raiding for, especially since it's so blasted hard! This thing's Raid Boss bulk out-paces even the Regis, and is the single bulkiest Tier-5 raid boss that currently can exist.... outside of maybe Eternamax Eternatus, but let's all pray that we never get that insanely broken thing.
Team Building Approach
If you want to take down this thing, you're going to want to pack a lot of raw strength. Fortunately, its weaknesses to Ghost and Dark are pretty significant... while Bug definitely exists.
- Ghost generally stands out at the best option, with Dawn Wings Necrozma in particular standing head-and-shoulders above most of the meta.
- Dark falls off in terms of DPS when compared to Ghost, but it also tends to out-TDO Ghost in most cases... though DPS is generally more important here.
- Bug is a type too!
