PvE Analysis

The original Water Type titan, Kyogre once ruled its meta with an iron fist.... fin. It was a must-have for virtually anyone raiding, and Raiding was virtually the only game-mode at the time. This thing was one of the apex Pokemon of its time, sporting virtually no real competition and fearing no major competition in the future... save itself. Nowadays, Kyogre is still good, but it's been out-classed.... by itself.

PvP Analysis

WaterfallWaterfall and SurfSurf serve as Kyogre's bread and butter for consistent damage output, with the latter move having a relatively low cost.

Kyogre has several different choices for its secondary Charged Attacks. BlizzardBlizzard gives it play against Dragon-type Pokemon, which often wall it otherwise, but it is extremely expensive and unreliable. ThunderThunder is great for opposing Kyogre and Primarina, and is a less costly option to dent Palkia with. Origin PulseOrigin Pulse* packs immense power and can destroy Pokemon who don't resist Water even harder, but it comes at the price of coverage.

Great League 0 / 5
Kyogre is ineligible in Great League. However, a Shadow Kyogre obtained through Giovanni is usable in here, though its performance leaves a lot to be desired.
Ultra League0 / 5
Kyogre's offensively-leaning stat spread does not bode well in the Ultra League, especially when paired with its somewhat mediocre moveset. When compared to other Waters such as Feraligatr or Tapu Fini, Kyogre stands no chance.
Master League4.5 / 5
Without the CP cap holding it back, Kyogre becomes an absolute menace in the Master League, boasting a very high stat product and a unique threat profile. Though a few other Water-type Pokemon exist in the Master League (including the incredibly powerful Palkia-Origin), none can match Kyogre's consistency a dealing Water-type damage. Kyogre pairs incredibly well with Fairies and Dialga, as the general poor performance of Electrics and Grasses in this league means it mostly only fears Dragon-type enemies. With that said, Kyogre's issue against Dragons is a significant drawback because of their abundance. It can get farmed down very easily against them, which is a huge issue when switch isn't available. Kyogre players need to be careful when sending it in to matchups that it wins, because opponents will seek to "revenge farm" it down to try to flip tide of the overall game into their favor. Try to maximize its energy and minimize its health while it's in an advantageous position to prevent the game from slipping out of your hands.
