PvE Analysis

Mega Heracross is absolutely a power-house of a Pokemon. Generally speaking, it's the top Bug Type Mega Evolution, sporting DPS similar to Mega Beedrill with higher TDO in many cases, and it's also a strong Fighting Type Mega Evolution, able to carry strong performance that's worthy of consideration. This double-duty also makes it an attractive budget pick, although the story isn't 100% favorable for this titanic beetle.

Bug is a notoriously bad type, in part due to the fact that it tends to compete with a few absolutely broken types that outright dwarf it by comparison. This is compounded by the fact that Psychic Types, one of the types that Bug should be able to prey on, can hit Mega Heracross back hard due to its Fighting sub-typing. These facts can greatly limit what Mega Heracross will be capable of actually take on. But, on the other hand, this is also a Pokemon that hard-counters many Dark Types due to its double-resistance, so this is a Pokemon that can definitely excel in specific scenarios!

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Struggle Bug + MegahornBest
Counter + Close CombatBest
  • Struggle Bug and Megahorn is the signature Bug Type moveset that makes Mega Heracross a Herculean threat.
  • Counter and Close Combat actually manages to make Mega Heracross a surprisingly strong Fighting Type attacker, making it look like Atlas when compared to much of the competition.
    • For targets weak to both Bug and Fighting, go for Counter and Megahorn to bring out maximum damage.
  • Earthquake and Rock Blast don't have synergy with Mega Heracross' Fast Moves, making it less of a Stag when using them.
