PvE Analysis

Shadow Weavile's Dark and Ice DPS are incredible. Fear Shadow Weavile, for its claws bring ruin... just don't punch it, because it'll fall like a house of cards.

If you're fortunate enough to have a good Shadow Weavile, it will doubtlessly serve you well. With high-tier performance in both of its types, this Pokemon is an absolute monster and a true glass cannon to say the least.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

  • Snarl is superior to Feint Attack on offense.
  • Foul Play pairs well to fulfill a Dark-type role.
  • Ice Shard pairs with Avalanche to fulfill an Ice-type role.
  • Triple Axel is slightly weaker than Avalanche, but it remains competitive due to being a 3-bar move.
  • Snarl + Avalanche is Shadow Weavile’s best set vs. targets weak to both Ice and Dark, such as Giratina and Latios.
  • Focus Blast is not appropriate on Shadow Weavile. TM it.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

  • Ice Shard and Snarl have similar performance. The former is not resisted by Fighting, while the latter has slightly higher energy gains.
  • Triple Axel comes out fast and frequently while still hitting hard, making it the defensive Charged move of choice.
  • Avalanche is more punishing than Foul Play when hitting the enemy. Both are about as hard to dodge.
  • Focus Blast will never get used before Weavile faints.
  • Feint Attack is an inferior quick move.

PvP Analysis

Ice Shard is a solid fast move, but after the update Snarl blows it out of the water with its incredible energy generation, giving Weavile a niche as a unique spammy glass cannon.

Avalanche and Foul Play offer powerful STAB damage with very wide-reaching coverage. Depending on the meta, the much slower Focus Blast could also come in handy as a surprise nuke on Steel-types. Triple Axel can work for its Attack boost on use, but it's substantially weaker than Avalanche.

Great League1 / 5

Weavile's defenses were bad enough, but Shadow Weavile can't even take many neutral hits before it drops.

Ultra League0 / 5

Shadow Weavile has some niches in the Ultra League against both Giratina forms, but it's not the most generally useful Pokemon in this capacity.

Master League1.5 / 5

Shadow Weavile can threaten many high-powered pokemon in the tier such as Giratina, Lugia, Zygarde, and Dawn Wings Necrozma. with its potent and pervasive STAB attacks. However, it is still frail, and doesn't perform well when it's not being played to its strengths. Proper use of Shadow Weavile requires careful play and forethought, as it could be the winning trump card, or nothing more than dead weight.

But honestly, don't use Shadow Weavile other than for laughs and content.
