Raid Review: October 2025

Welcome to Raid Review, where we look at the raids that we know about for the coming month. We're going into the depths of Autumn in the northern hemisphere, and a few of our options are spooky to match... not many, but hey; we'll take what we can get. While our classical raids are a little underwhelming this month, there are more interesting opportunities available for those of us searching for Mega Evolutions or Dynamax Pokemon, so don't rest on those daily raid passes!

Five-Star Raids

Our Five Star raid options this time around... are not outstanding. Deoxys - Defense used to be an amazing Pokemon in PvP, but its time is long since gone. Deoxys - Attack used to have a niche as an extremely high-DPS but super-glassy Pokemon, but now it's genuinely not even worth remembering. Genesect has never really been good, regardless of its forme. Even poor Giratina - Origin Forme has long since lost its utility, while Dialga is just an outclassed legend.

However, we DO have a bit of utility here. Dialga - Origin Forme is a genuinely good Pokemon in raids, and a MONSTER in the Master League, so it's worth aiming for. And, to finish the list, Giratina - Altered Forme has at least SOME utility in PvP, so it might be worth raiding for a bit... especially to farm candy for the eventual Shadow Giratina - Origin Forme.

Mega Raids

Here we go! The Mega Raids for October are actually pretty nice! Right off the top, we have a few Mega Evolutions that are either top-tier, or are contenders for the Mega crowns in their types:

• Mega Rayquaza - Flying and Dragon
• Mega Lucario - Fighting, and decent in Steel
• Mega Gengar - Ghost, can work in Poison
• Mega Blaziken - Fire, and decent in Fighting
• Mega Sceptile - Grass
• Mega Absol - Dark
• Mega Metagross - Steel, and decent in Psychic

If you are missing any of these, or just need better versions of them, then guess what? Now's your shot! Keep in mind that Mega Rayquaza and Mega Metagross are both Raid Days, so if they're on your list then make sure that you're ready to go on their days. And if you're aiming for Mega Metagross in particular, take a look at our Dynamax section below before you start investing.

The runner-ups are Mega Swampert, Mega Scizor, Mega Salamence, Mega Houndoom, and Mega Banette. All of these Mega Evolutions are usable, but out-classed.

Finally, the dex fillers are Mega Steelix, Mega Mawile, and Mega Sableye. They... don't do a whole lot, honestly.

Dynamax Raids

Our Dynamax options this month are a bit hit-and-miss. We have a few major stand-outs, and a number of options that aren't really worthwhile.

The top options here are Beldum and Drilbur, as their evolved forms both have great overall performance in Dynamax battles. Dynamax Excadrill has great performance when it comes to both Ground and Steel, and it can also take on a more supportive role when its typing comes into play, which it frequently does. Meanwhile, Dynamax Metagross similarly has great offensive and defensive performance alike, and if you manage to score a good Dynamax Beldum, then it can also be leveraged into Mega Metagross for even more raw utility.

A step down, we have Dynamax Gastly. Dynamax Gengar is a good Pokemon on the whole, though it pales in comparison to Gigantamax Gengar, which hasn't been announced for this month.... yet.

Dynamax Duraludon has A BIT of potential utility, but it's not great. And going even farther down the hole, Dynamax Swoobat and Dynamax Tsareena aren't really worth aiming for.

Shadow Raids

We're not really sure what to expect for Shadow Raids in October. Shadow Regigigas and Shadow Groudon made appearancees in September, but it's hard to say what we can expect next. We'll update this section once we know more!
