Move Difficulty

Metal Claw and Dragon Breath are virtually identical when used by a raid boss, but the latter is a bit more threatening here due to the fact that both of the top Mega counters resist it, alongside a few other options. Thunder doesn't come out very frequently, but it strikes very quickly when it does, and is hard to dodge. Still, Ground Type options don't fear it, so on average it's not that threatening. Draco Meteor is largely a delete button coming off of Dialga's relatively high Attack stat and STAB boost, but it's also pretty easy to dodge. Finally, Iron Head isn't super dangerous unto itself, but the fact that it's Dialga's only multi-bar move means that it pulls a lot of weight in general.

Overview

Dialga is a relatively important Pokemon in Go. It's got solid performance in PvP, and is usable in PvE, but on both fronts it's out-classed by its Origin forme strictly due to Roar of Time. Hopefully the real original will get access to its signature move someday, but for now, it's primarily great for some Master League performance and for farming Dialga candy.

Team Building Approach

Dialga only has two weaknesses: Fighting and Ground.

  • Honestly, these two types have fairly similar performance. Fighting tends to pull ahead if only due to how absolutely absurd Mega Lucario is, but Ground isn't too far behind with Primal Groudon. Outside of this titanic duo, the top Pokemon of both types aren't too far off from each other.
