PvE Analysis

A strange little gremlin to say the least, Mega Sableye didn't translate super-well into Pokemon Go. Its attack is very low for a Mega Evolution, and while it's great defensively in the main series, that's mainly due to the power of its whole kit, none of which actually translated into Pokemon Go at all. Honestly, Mega Sableye is a pretty pathetic Pokemon, but it does have one shining benefit worth mentioning.

As a Mega Evolution, Mega Sableye boosts the team's attacks that match its typing. And as a Dark/Ghost Type, it will tend to boost both of the top counter-types for any raid that it's brought out in. Add to that decent defensive presence that can be great depending on the moveset that it's facing down, and Mega Sableye can potentially work as a more supportive Mega Evolution that super-charges its entire team while on the field.

Does this make Mega Sableye good? Nope. It's got one niche, and that niche isn't exactly valued in Pokemon Go. But it's still worth noting! At the moment, Mega Sableye is little more than a fun little dex-filler.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Shadow Claw + Foul PlayBest
  • Dark and Ghost have nearly identical offensive profiles, so they can mix-and-match well for the vast majority of raids. The strongest mix for Mega Sableye is Shadow Claw and Foul Play
  • Feint Attack is a bit weaker, but it can replace Shadow Claw if Ghost doesn't work as well as Dark
  • Shadow Sneak, Power Gem, and Return are easy skips.
