PvE Analysis

Shadow Machamp spent quite a while as the top Shadow Fighting Type in the game. This was much to the dismay of Conkeldurr, which never really had a chance to shine due to Aura Sphere and the rise of the Shadows. Well, no more! With the Shadow boost, Shadow Conkeldurr has become an absolutely stellar attacker, absolutely crushing the vast majority of the competition with ease. If you're looking for Fighting Type damage, then this is one of the best possible Pokemon that you could raise.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Counter + Dynamic PunchBest
  • Counter and Dynamic Punch are what makes Shadow Conkeldurr worth considering.
  • Poison Jab does not have a good typing, and not good on Shadow Conkeldurr.
  • Focus Blast is inferior to Dynamic Punch
  • Stone Edge and Brutal Swing* have no offensive use.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Counter or Poison Jab + Brutal Swing* or Dynamic PunchBest
  • Counter is generally the way to go, though Poison Jab can hit Fairy Types hard.
  • Brutal Swing* had great neutral coverage and counter-coverage while coming out frequently, making it the top Charged Move choice for defense.
  • Dynamic Punch is Shadow Conkeldurr's only other multi-bar move. It's best used with Poison Jab for multi-type coverage.
  • Stone Edge has decent counter-coverage and is very hard to dodge. That said, it's one-bar.
  • Focus Blast... no. Just use Dynamic Punch.

PvP Analysis

Counter + Brutal Swing* and Stone Edge or Dynamic Punch

Counter is one of the best fast moves in the game and a must for any Fighting-type. Poison Jab can provide coverage against Fairy-type Pokemon, but the loss in Conkeldurr's ability to deal consistent Fighting-type damage is not worth it.

Brutal Swing, Conkeldurr's Community Day, is a must have due to its low cost; it also provides coverage against Ghost- and Psychic-type opponents. Stone Edge can break apart Flying-type opponents, though it is a rather expensive move. Dynamic Punch can be used instead of Stone Edge for extra Fighting-type damage at the cost of extra coverage. Focus Blast is just far too expensive.

Great League3 / 5
Conkeldurr is an alternative choice to Machamp as a Fighting-type Pokemon. They have similar stat products and an overall similar moveset. Conkeldurr possesses more reliable Dark- and Ghost-type coverage than Machamp, but Machamp has overall faster Charged Attacks thanks to its access to Cross Chop and Rock Slide. Generally, Machamp is seen as the superior option of the two, although Conkeldurr is not a bad alternative. However, as long as Annihilape remains a top meta Fighting-type Pokemon, Conkeldurr struggles to find a solid niche in the open Great League.Shadow Conkeldurr is generally preferred over regular Conkeldurr, elevating its Counters to oppressive levels. Its Brutal Swings gain enough power to almost 2-shot Cresselia.
Ultra League3 / 5

Master League2 / 5
Though Conkeldurr's stats are best suited for the Master League, it is generally outclassed by other Fighters such as Galarian Zapdos and Marshadow. Even when considering its status as a budget Fighting-type option, it is outclassed by Annihilape. Then there's also the fact that Fighting-types are generally not good in the Master League due to the high presence of Psychic-, Ghost-, and Flying-type opponents.
