PvE Analysis

The current apex of the Fire Dynamax meta, and the ultimate counter to Gigantamax VenusaurGigantamax Venusaur as of right now, Gigantamax Charizard has the safest position among the three Gigantamax Kanto starters. Its closest competition, CinderaceCinderace, has more raw Attack, but G-Max WildfireG-Max Wildfire and access to Blast BurnBlast Burn more than makes up for that fact. However, it still has to worry about Pokemon like ChandelureChandelure, VolcaronaVolcarona, DarmanitanDarmanitan, BlacephalonBlacephalon, or any of the other high-Attack Fire Types getting the Dynamax treatment in the future, as they could pose somewhat of a threat despite not having access to their own G-Max Moves. On the bright side, the only other Fire Type Gigantamax Pokemon with a Fire Type G-Max Move is CentiskorchCentiskorch , so Charizard is pretty safe on that front by virtue of a tiny bit more Attack and a stronger basic moveset.

Best PvE Offensive Movesets

  • Gigantamax Charizard's locked into a Fire Type moveset, even more so than its basic, Shadow, and Mega Formes due to the way that Max Moves work. For this reason, pairing Fire SpinFire Spin with Blast BurnBlast Burn* is what currently sets Gigantamax Charizard apart from the competition.
  • OverheatOverheat is a good backup if you don't want to utilize an Elite TM.

PvP Analysis

In PvP, Gigantamax Charizard is effectively no different from a normal CharizardCharizard, except without access to Return as a move option.
