Conkeldurr
PvE Analysis
So he's finally here! Beating up stuff for you! If you catch one now, you can punch guys too!
Conkeldurr is in an unfortunate position. It's long been the Pokemon that was destined to take the Fighting Type throne from machamp due to its stats alone, and then its moveset was found which confirmed that the crown was ready. Then Lucario flew in and knocked him out with an Aura Sphere before he could take his long-awaited place!
Yes, Conkeldurr is generally outclassed by Lucario now. Even in scenarios where Lucario's steel sub-typing puts it at a disadvantage, Conkeldurr still can't keep up with the sheer power of Shadow Machamp, who also swooped in and outclassed this poor would-be king. Despite all of this, it's still a fantastic Pokemon that's worth investing in! ...though most players already have a small army of Machamp ready to go, a Lucario already raised, or a Shadow Machamp quietly waiting for the next Rocket event, meaning Conkeldurr will probably tend to fall through the cracks.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Counter + Dynamic Punch | Best |
---|
- Counter and Dynamic Punch are what makes Conkeldurr worth considering.
- Poison Jab does not have a good typing, and not good on Conkeldurr.
- Focus Blast is inferior to Dynamic Punch
- Stone Edge and Brutal Swing* have no offensive use.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Counter or Poison Jab + Brutal Swing* or Dynamic Punch | Best |
---|
- Counter is generally the way to go, though Poison Jab can hit Fairy Types hard.
- Brutal Swing* had great neutral coverage and counter-coverage while coming out frequently, making it the top Charged Move choice for defense.
- Dynamic Punch is Conkeldurr's only other multi-bar move. It's best used with Poison Jab for multi-type coverage.
- Stone Edge has decent counter-coverage and is very hard to dodge. That said, it's one-bar.
- Focus Blast... no. Just use Dynamic Punch.
PvP Analysis
Counter + Dynamic Punch and Brutal Swing* or Stone Edge |
---|
Counter is the best fast move in the game and a must for any Fighting-type.
Conkeldurr's coverage is equivalent to that of Machamp, just a little slower and hard-hitting, which is still great in terms of power and coverage. Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge take more energy to throw out than Machamp's own Cross Chop and Rock Slide, but it does have an advantage when it comes to Dark Type coverage, as Brutal Swing is substantially easier to use than Machamp's Payback. Focus Blast is way too slow compared to the other options.
Great League | 0 / 5 |
---|---|
Conkeldurr must be at very low level to enter the Great League, which is not even currently possible with Timburr only being available from raids. Because of that, it's very frail and the slower charged moves compared to other Fighting-types don't complement it very well. | |
Ultra League | 0 / 5 |
The higher CP cap gives Conkeldurr more breathing room in this league, where it counters Steel-types very effectively, though it doesn't have many ways to fight back against Giratina. It performs very similarly to Machamp, hitting a little slower but harder, and boasting a bit more bulk. | |
Master League | 3.5 / 5 |
Conkeldurr's role as a bulkier and harder-hitting Machamp continues here too, where it notably picks up the 2-shield fight against Dialga, whereas Dragon Breath damage overwhelms Machamp instead. |
