Move Difficulty

The moves here are... unique. Virtually all of them have major cases where they're very challenging, and other cases where they're not very hard at all. It largely depends on your counters.

Stone Edge is strong and relatively hard to dodge, but it's in the 'Easy' section because its coverage isn't extremely relevant here, especially among the top Steel Type counters. Iron Head comes out frequently, but doesn't quite hit Intermediate due to the fact that a fair number of Kyurem Black's top counters resist it.

On the 'intermediate' side, Dragon Tail hits relatively hard for a Fast Move and would definitely fall into the Hard category, but it's Intermediate here due to the fact that the top counters here tend to be Steel Type. If you're using a lot of dragons or things that don't resist Dragon, then it should definitely be considered Hard. Meanwhile, Shadow Claw is the opposite case. Under normal circumstances, it would fall under Easy due to the fact that it doesn't hit super hard when used by a Raid Boss, especially without STAB. But in this case it's Intermediate due to its performance against some of Black Kyurem's best counters. Blizzard hits like an ABSOLUTE TRUCK, but it's reasonably easy to dodge and is, again, resisted by the top Steel Type counters. However, if you happen to be packing dragons, then it's pretty much a one-hit-KO button. Finally, Outrage is yet another case of 'extremely dangerous, but Steel Types exist'.

Overview

Black Kyurem is, without a doubt, one of the absolute strongest things in Pokemon Go. It's an absolute monster, and a huge priority when available. It's also a genuine stat-sponge, hitting like a truck and lasting a fair bit. However, it also takes a lot of damage from its top counters, so it's not quite as hard as it seems on the surface.

Team Building Approach

• Black Kyurem is weak to Dragon, Fairy, Fighting, Rock and Steel.
• Steel tends to be the top pick here, with the absolute best Steel Types having ways to power through the majority of Black Kyurem's strongest attacks and punch back extremely hard.
• Dragon is also great, though a bit riskier here. The top Dragon Types hit hard, but can be frail depending on Black Kyurem's moveset.
• Fighting is primarily good due to the dominant power of Mega Lucario, but the other top Fighting Types are pretty good at least.
• Rock has a few good options, but most are a bit beneath the competition.
• Fairy is an under-performing type here, but can still work in a pinch.

Best Raid Counters

Supreme Counters

The top counters here tend to be absolute monsters. The resistances here are a bit of a mixed-bag, but a double Ice weakness honestly isn't that huge of a deal here. This is due to the fact that Kyurem - Black generally doesn't have much Ice Type power behind it as a raid boss, because it can't use Freeze Shock and strictly has access to Blizzard on that front. Regardless, Black Kyurem's wide movepool means it can potentially threaten just about anything that wants to counter it if the dice roles in its favor.
