The Galarian Expedition Event Begins on October 4

Galar, the region that embodies Generation 8 of Pokemon, is a pretty divisive region. Galar introduced some pretty big changes to what we used to consider to be the norm of the Pokemon series, and not all of those changes were objectively great. However, it's hard to argue against Galar sporting a number of really iconic Pokemon, and the fact that it's also the season that featured the Dynamax system, which is the big new thing in Pokemon Go and the central mechanic of the Max Out season, means that we're definitely not likely to be done with this region any time soon!

To emphasize this fact, Niantic has announced the newest upcoming event for Pokemon Go: Galairian Expedition. With many Pokemon from the season making their return, including one rather appropriate Legendary Pokemon in particular, we've got a lot to look forward too pretty soon.

Event Bonuses

• The Daily Adventure Incense spawn pool will be updated. among the updates, Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will all have their Shiny formes released.

While the prospect of shiny versions of the Galarian Birds may seem a bit daunting given their tendency to break out of Pokeballs and immediately flee, contributors on The Silph Road have confirmed that the shiny variants of these rare monsters will not escape when they break out of a Pokeball, making them virtually 100% catchable if you have a large enough stash of various types of balls.

It's also interesting to note that these Shiny Pokemon will be freely available in Pokemon Go even before the Main Series, as to date they have only been available over there via event distributions.

• Various Event-themed Pokestop Showcases will be available
• A Masterwork Research line will be available in the shop for $7.99 that will grant various rewards, including a Master Ball.

Event Encounters

• A selection of Pokemon will spawn more frequently in the wild
