Charge Beam has low power and isn't very threatening.
Thunder and Drill Peck both benefit from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus). Thunder is quite easy to dodge and Drill Peck has low power, making it not as favorable against in many matchups, especially against Rock Types.
Zap Cannon deals massive damage if not dodged. Thunderbolt comes out frequently and can send you back to the lobby screen faster than you'd think. Finally, there's Ancient Power that has great coverage against any Ice Types you might bring while hitting most Rock Types for neutral damage.
Overview
While it might've been the top Electric Type years ago, time hasn't been kind to Zapdos. It can still hold its own in raids, but due to more Pokemon being added it has become harder to justify investing your hard earned stardust in Zapdos.
Zapdos is the hardest Electric Type to take down as you can't exploit Electric's weakness to Ground. Most of its moves can hit you pretty hard and Ancient Power provides good coverage. That being said, it won't be super hard to take down. Power creep has not been kind to Zapdos as we've gotten a wide array of strong Ice and Rock types over the year that will ensure that this raid will go smoothly with the proper counters.
Team Building Approach
Zapdos is weak to Ice and Rock.
- Ice is the way to go, if you have White/Black Kyurem...
- Rock performs great if you're missing out on a full team of Kyurems (aren't we all?).
Best Counters
Supreme Counters
With the top counters you can pull of a duo, without the need of a weather boost.

Needless to say, White Kyurem is the true VIP here. Its ability to deep-freeze Zapdos while resisting Electric Type moves makes it a stellar counter that can drop Zapdos pretty easily. After that monster, the other big-names are strong, and can mix-and-match a bit.
