PvE Analysis

Tsareena was one of the mono-Grass Pokemon released in Alola, and it dropped in April 2023 in Pokemon Go for Sustainability Week. This is a Pokemon that would have been great back around 2018-2019 as it's actually very comparable to Roserade in terms of performance, but that now means that it's pretty outclassed nowadays. It's fine, but not great.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Magical leaf + Grass KnotBest
  • Magical Leaf and Grass Knot is the way to go for maximum Grass Type DPS
  • Razor Leaf and Energy Ball are decent, but both fall short.
  • Charm and Draining Kiss can work to make Tsareena into a pseudo-Fairy attacker, but it's not good at this job.
  • Triple Axel is good, but not great for Tsareena.
  • High Jump Kick* isn't great, and it honestly doesn't do much for Tsareena.
  • Stomp is basically useless on offense.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Charm or Magical Leaf + Grass Knot, Draining Kiss, or StompBest
  • Charm is the best option due to its high base power and good neutral coverage, alongside the fact that it pairs with Tsareena's strongest Charged Move options, in particular Triple Axel.
  • Grass Knot is also good on defense, but not quite as good as Triple Axel.
  • Magical Leaf is comparable to Charm when STAB is taken into consideration for a reversal of Tsareena's above moveset. It has worse Fast Move coverage than Charm and a weaker charged move to pair with in Draining Kiss, but it's still an okay choice.
  • Stomp is a bit weak, but it has solid neutral coverage and is pretty hard to avoid. It can also pair with either of Tsareena's main Fast Moves just fine.
  • Energy Ball is a strict downgrade to Grass Knot due to having the same attack power but a later damage window, while Razor Leaf is a strict downgrade to Magical Leaf
  • High Jump Kick* is hard to dodge, but it's pretty weak for its high energy cost.

PvP Analysis

Charm or Razor Leaf or Magical Leaf + Triple Axel and High Jump Kick or Grass Knot

Tsareena's moveset isn't anything to write home about. Neither is its stat product. Charm helps differentiate it from other Grass-type Pokemon, but its other Fast Attacks can work.

Triple Axel provides solid coverage and has the advantage of a fairly low energy cost and a 100% chance to buff Tsareena's Attack with each use. High Jump Kick provides potentially useful Fighting Type coverage to take out Steel Type counters, but the rare moments when it procs its Defense debuff will all but leave Tsareena as dead in the water. Grass Knot is superior to Energy Ball due to costing less energy. Draining Kiss offers some coverage, but its damage is incredibly poor. Stomp doesn't offer much utility.

Great League: 1.5 / 5

You are not running Tsareena in Open Great League if you want to win. Victreebel, Tropius, and Grotle are superior Razor Leafers. Magical Leaf is a fairly good move, but still doesn't give Tsareena a discernible niche over other Grass-type Pokemon. Tsareena might be viable in some very specific cups, though. Having access to Charm can be useful if said cup bans actual Fairy types, granting Tsareena somewhat of a niche.

Ultra League: 1.5 / 5

Master League: 1 / 5

Tsareena's unique ability, Queenly Majesty, is excellent for protecting high-value partners from priority moves. With that said, abilities don't exist in Pokemon GO, so Tsareena offers nothing to patch up its low stats in the Master League.
