PvE Analysis

Latias is outclassed by Latios as an attacker, but it is a good tank thanks to its good bulk and a respectable list of resistances. Its Defense-weighted stat spread makes it a great user of Max Guard, and its access to a 0.5 second Fast Attack in Dragon Breath allows it to contribute well to charging up the Max Meter quickly.

Latias's lack of double resistances will eventually cause it to become outclassed by other Dragon- or Psychic-type tanks in the future, so keep that in mind if you plan to invest in this Pokemon.

It's also worth noting that a Dynamax Latias can also be used as Mega Latias in normal raids and anywhere else it's applicable, so there's added value there. That said, Mega Latias isn't the highest priority Mega Evolution in the game.

Best Dynamax Movesets

Dragon Breath + (any)Defensive
Dragon Breath or Zen Headbutt or Charm + (any)Offensive
  • As Latias primarily plays as a tank, Dragon Breath is the preferred move choice due to its 0.5 second duration
  • It is generally not recommended to use Latias as an attacker, but it can work as a Dragon, Psychic, or Fairy attacker in a pinch.
    • In this role, it's best as a Dragon Type due to how fast Dragon Breath is, okay as a Psychic Type due to Zen Headbutt's okay performance, and a bit lackluster as a Fairy Type due to just how slow Charm is.
  • Latias's Charged Attacks have moderately long durations, so they are often challenging to use without slowing down the Max Meter charging speeds too much. Mist Ball is generally the strongest option.

PvP Analysis

In terms of PvP performance, Dynamax Latias is basically Latias, but without access to Return.
