Pokemon Go Tour: Unova Event Guide

Welcome to the penultimate event of the year for Pokemon Go: Go Tour! With a focus on Unova this year, our biggest highlight (that has been VERY, VERY highlighted by Niantic) is the grand release of Kyurem's two fused formes. However, that's not all that the event will feature. With bonuses and spawns worthy of consideration, this is our attempt to highlight the top priorities for the event.
The Ticket

The Go Tour Pass is a special feature that allows for various rewards just by playing. It will be available from February 24 until March 2, and will grant players with a plethora of rewards.
However, there is also a Deluxe path to the Go Tour pass that will reward players with a Victini encounter, as well as the new Lucky Trinket, which grants players the ability to turn one friend of the user's choice into a Lucky Friend instantly.
The Deluxe Path ticket is $14.99, and the Deluxe Path+10 ticket is 19.99. The + ticket will grant 10 ranks through the Go Tour Pass, jump-starting the experience. The Deluxe route has a number of premium items such as XL Candy, Fusion Energy for Kyurem, Incense, Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces. Honestly it might be better to just purchase raid passes for more raids instead as there are none in the Tour Pass itself.
Bonuses
This event has some nice bonuses, though most are more focused on trades and eggs. As such, this is a great chance to focus on hatching eggs, as stated, and trading some Pokemon. In particular, this is a great opportunity to hit some lucky trades and try for a super-powerful Black Kyurem or White Kyurem.
Raiding Priorities
Without a doubt, the top priorities should be Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. These two are THE HEADLINERS for this event, and should definitely be aimed for pretty hard. Reshiram and Zekrom are secondary in this case. They are great on their own, and they’re also ammo for making Kyurem’s monstrous alternate formes. In the article below we go more in depth about both Kyurem formes. So definitely check it out and decide which one you want to prioritise.
Outside of the five-star options… not much is available. Grab a Druddigon or two from Tier 3 raids if you need it/have extra raid passes that you can’t throw at the REAL dragons. Finally, we have the hat Pikachu quartet…. they exist.

Habitat Overview & Priorities
Needless to say, everyone will have their own unique priorities for the event, but this is at least an overview based on general utility. It's good to decide on your priorities before the event, as knowing which hours aren't interesting for you can help you focus on when you want to raid and when you want to focus on wild spawns.
Winter Cavern
Winter Caverns has a few important spawns to look out for, but only one of them is super rare under normal circumstances. Also, why is it winter “caverns”? All of the other habitats have names that center around social gatherings or leisure/entertainment… but winter gets a cave.
Habitat Start | Habitat End |
---|---|
10:00 a.m. local time | 11:00 a.m. local time |
2:00 p.m. local time | 3:00 p.m. local time |
Spring Soiree
Spring is on its way in the northern hemisphere, and the Spring Soiree has a few noteworthy spawns, but it’s overall not very good.
Habitat Start | Habitat End |
---|---|
11:00 a.m. local time | 12:00 a.m. local time |
3:00 p.m. local time | 4:00 p.m. local time |
Summer Vacation
Many of us in the northern hemisphere are wishing for summer right now. But, regardless, we’ve got more spawns worth talking about.
Habitat Start | Habitat End |
---|---|
12:00 p.m. local time | 1:00 p.m. local time |
4:00 p.m. local time | 5:00 p.m. local time |
Autumn Masquerade
While Autumn Masquerade has a few good options, the list is pretty slim. Still, the ones worth mentioning are pretty good!
Habitat Start | Habitat End |
---|---|
1:00 p.m. local time | 2:00 p.m. local time |
5:00 p.m. local time | 6:00 p.m. local time |
Egg Hatches
Eggs are a definite priority here. Every category has something worth aiming for, in particular a plethora of different regionals, all of which can be shiny. On top of that, having Larvesta in literally every egg distance is EXTREMELY nice, so players should ALWAYS be hatching as many eggs as possible.
Field Research
Research doesn’t have many worthwhile Pokemon to draw from this time around. Pretty much, it’s down to picking up the new Pikachu hats, colorful Basculin, and some seasonal Deerling. That said, keep up with research for resources more than the Pokemon, unless you specifically want to farm these Pokemon.
Oh, and don’t forget that Red Stripe and Blue Stripe Basculin can’t evolve into Basculegion in the main series, only White Stripe.
Tips
Mega Evolution
As everyone's priorities are different, the suggestions below might not be for you. However, the Pokemon mentioned below are in line with our previously recommended priorities for both raids, and also overlapping with some wild encounters.
Party Up!
For those playing in group remember to party up and share premium items like Lucky Eggs and Starpieces with eachother. For each premium item used while in a party, all other party members and yourself will receive 15 minutes of that items effect. Though note that partying up drains your battery faster.
