PvE Analysis

The current apex of the Water Dynamax meta, and a great counter to Gigantamax CharizardGigantamax Charizard as of right now, Gigantamax Blastoise is currently sitting in the roughest position among the three Kanto starters. This is due to the fact that Dynamax InteleonInteleon has a a whopping 53% Attack lead over Blastoise, while G-Max CannonadeG-Max Cannonade is only about 28% stronger than Max GeyserMax Geyser when both are at max level. Access to Hydro CannonHydro Cannon helps Gigantamax Blastoise close the gap a bit, but the numbers just don't add up. Add to this the fact that Gigantamax Inteleon is on the horizon, and it becomes clear that Gigantamax Blastoise is good, but sadly outclassed.

Best PvE Offensive Movesets

  • Gigantamax Blastoise is locked into a Water Type moveset, even more so than its basic, Shadow, and Mega Formes due to the way that Max Moves work. For this reason, pairing Water GunWater Gun with Hydro CannonHydro Cannon* is what currently allows Gigantamax Blastoise to remain competitive.
  • Hydro PumpHydro Pump is a good backup if you don't want to utilize an Elite TM.

PvP Analysis

In PvP, Gigantamax Blastoise is effectively no different from a normal BlastoiseBlastoise, except without access to Return as a move option.
