PvE Analysis
Like its base Dynamax form, Gigantamax Blastoise functions primarily as a tank to make use of its high Defense stat, and should prioritize leveling up Max Guard and Max Spirit. Though G-Max Cannonade is a powerful move, it is often not GMax Blastoise's main option, though it can put in work when it has nothing better to click.
As an attacker, Dynamax Inteleon has a a whopping 53% Attack lead over Blastoise, while
G-Max Cannonade is only about 28% stronger than
Max Geyser when both are at max level. When you want to rely on pure damage, Inteleon still outperforms GMax Blastoise. In the future, Gigantamax Inteleon will be released, further widening the offensive gap between them.
Gigantamax Blastoise is locked into a Water-type Max Attack. It can viably run either Bite or
Water Gun as Fast Attacks depending on the boss it is up against. Both moves have a 0.5 second duration, which allows Gigantamax Blastoise to charge the Max Meter quickly.
Best Dynamax Movesets

Defensive |
- Water Gun matches typing with G-Max Cannonade and generates energy quickly.
- Water Gun and Bite have the same energy generation, meaning either one works on defense.
PvP Analysis
In PvP, Gigantamax Blastoise is effectively no different from a normal Blastoise, except without access to Return as a move option.
