PvE Analysis

Meowstic is one of the first Pokemon from Gen 6 to be introduced into Pokemon Go, but its stats aren't particularly strong for PvE. At the time of its release, there have already been various Psychic-type Pokemon that perform better in PvE, making this cat a dex filler at best.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Confusion + PsychicBest
  • Confusion is the preferred fast move for offense, benefiting from STAB.
  • Charm and Magical Leaf lack STAB and thus perform a bit worse.
  • Psychic benefits from STAB and allows Meowstic to fulfill a Psychic-type role.
  • Shadow Ball is powerful, but lacking STAB and synergy makes it a bit inferior.
  • Energy Ball is the worst charge move option available.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Charm or Confusion + Psychic, Shadow Ball, or Energy BallBest
  • Charm is generally better for defense due to its coverage against Meowstic's weakness to Dark-types.
  • Magical Leaf is also a great move for defense.
  • Confusion hits harder against neutral attackers thanks to STAB.
  • Psychic benefits from STAB, resulting in the highest damage against neutral attackers, and is also the hardest to dodge.
  • Shadow Ball is a bit slow, but hits most attackers for strong neutral damage.
  • Energy Ball is the easiest to dodge and doesn't provide much value on defense.

PvP Analysis

Confusion + Psychic and Shadow Ball or Energy Ball

Confusion benefits from STAB and offers decent energy generation. Charm lacks STAB and also provides the worst energy generation in the game, but offers Fairy-type coverage.

All of Meowstic's charge moves cost 55 energy and have similar DPE efficiencies, meaning different combinations of charge moves may be viable depending on the format, team composition, and needed coverage. Psychic hits neutral opponents hardest thanks to STAB, but doesn't provide additional coverage. Shadow Ball is more powerful than Energy Ball and is largely unresisted while also threatening Ghost-type counters, but the latter provides Grass-type coverage.

Great League

Meowstic competes with various other Psychic-types in this league, making it difficult to stand out. Falling behind Hypno in bulk, charge move accessibility, and coverage options means this cat is ultimately inferior. Cresselia is also considerably bulkier with access to Grass coverage. Best to leave this cat on the bench; it gets some points for being able to fulfill a Psychic-type role if given a typing advantage, but isn't impressive by any means.

Ultra League

Meowstic lacks stats for Ultra League, being as fragile as Gengar, while offering much less in terms of performance.

Master League

It's cruel to send a cat to fight a dragon.
