PvP Analysis

Poison Jab + Aqua Tail + Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball

Poison Jab sports the best combination of damage output and energy generation, though Poison Sting can still be chosen for even more energy gains at the cost of giving up damage.

Hisuian Qwilfish has an abundant selection of Charge Move combinations to choose from. Aqua Tail is generally always recommended for its low energy cost, as well as its coverage against Hisuian Qwilfish's weakness to Ground-type Pokemon. The secondary Charge Move of choice is up to preference, though all of them have moderate energy costs. Ice Beam provides useful Ice-type coverage, while Sludge Bomb hits hard with STAB but is a bit redundant with Poison Jab. Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball share the same coverage profile, with the former demanding 5 less energy and benefiting from STAB, while the latter is less likely to be resisted.

Great League3.5/5
Hisuian Qwilfish is a decent generalist thanks to its wide coverage and singular weakness. There are a few other Poison/Dark Pokemon with similar attributes, such as Drapion, Skuntank, and Alolan Muk. Out of all of them, Hisuian Qwilfish is the only one that can run a combination of Poison Jab and Aqua Tail, maximizing its overall consistency. It is also the only one that has access to an Ice-type Charged Attack. Although it is the most fragile out of them, its small unique traits are enough to make it occasionally worth considering.

Hisuian Qwilfish's CP is too low to be worth considering in other Leagues. Evolve it into Overqwil if you want to use it in the Ultra League.
