Overqwil
PvE Analysis
Poison-type attackers have always fallen behind other typings in Pokemon Go, but unfortunately Overqwil isn't the hero we need to change that. Roserade still beats Overqwil as a Poison-type attacker and is more readily available thanks to its Community Day. Maybe that's partly why Overqwil seems to always be incredibly angry.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Poison Jab + Sludge Bomb | Best |
---|
- Poison Jab is stronger than Poison Sting for PvE offense.
- Sludge Bomb synergizes well to fulfill a Poison-type attacker role.
- Dark Pulse is a viable move, but Overqwil lacks a Dark-type Fast Move.
- Shadow Ball is a good move even when without STAB, but also lacks synergy with Overqwil.
- Ice Beam should be used by Ice-type Pokemon.
- Aqua Tail doesn't have much use here, and Scald even less.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Poison Jab + Aqua Tail or Ice Beam | Best |
---|
- Poison Jab has double the base power of Poison Sting, making the latter useless for defense.
- Aqua Tail can be spammed frequently on defense and hurts Ground-type attackers.
- Scald is weaker thank Aqua Tail.
- Ice Beam is good against a variety of common attackers.
- Sludge Bomb gets STAB but its typing is not very favorable for defense.
- Dark Pulse is not advised for defense due to how common Fighting-type attackers are.
- Shadow Ball has a long animation, making it easier to dodge.
PvP Analysis
Poison Sting + Aqua Tail and Any |
---|
Poison Sting sports the best combination of damage output and energy generation, primarily due to its high energy capabilities.
Overqwil has an abundant selection of Charge Move combinations to choose from. Aqua Tail is generally always recommended for its low energy cost, as well as its coverage against Overqwil's weakness to Ground-type Pokemon. The secondary Charge Move of choice is up to preference, though all of them have moderate energy costs. Ice Beam provides useful Ice-type coverage, while Sludge Bomb hits hard with STAB but is a bit redundant with Poison Jab. Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball share the same coverage profile, with the former demanding 5 less energy and benefiting from STAB, while the latter is less likely to be resisted.
