Gorebyss
PvE Analysis
From a stat perspective, Gorebyss looked to contest Starmie for a chance as a glass cannon Water-type attacker. But tragedy strikes as Niantic chose to give this deep sea monster the affliction that is Water Pulse, crippling any hopes of top tier DPS.
What’s more confusing (heh) are the random Psychic-type moves, as Gorebyss possesses neither the STAB nor the bulk to use it effectively. What could have been a fun addition to the Water-type family is now the puzzling novelty of a wannabe Slowdude.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Water Gun + Water Pulse | Best |
---|---|
Confusion + Psychic | Best |
Water Gun should be paired with Water Pulse, the only functional combination of Gorebyss’s moves.
Confusion should be paired with Psychic, if you enjoy the novelty of a faux Slowdude without STAB.
- Draining Kiss fails to impress.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Confusion + Psychic | Best |
---|
Confusion is superior to Water Gun on account of the difference in base power.
Psychic is Gorebyss's best move on defense, having good power and 2 bars.
Draining Kiss is underwhelming.
- Water Pulse is disappointing, offering less coverage and a later dodge window.
PvP Analysis
Water Gun + Psychic and Water Pulse |
---|
Water Gun benefits from STAB and is therefore preferred over Confusion.
Psychic is a decent Charge Move that costs a moderate amount of energy and provides Psychic-type coverage. Water Pulse and Draining Kiss are both very poor moves, but at least the former gets STAB.
Great League | 1 / 5 |
---|---|
There are a lot of really good Water-types in Great League. Gorebyss isn't one of them. Don't run Gorebyss. | |
Ultra League | 1 / 5 |
Gorebyss is also not good in Ultra League. | |
Master League | 0 / 5 |
Not only is Gorebyss still bad on its own, its CP is also far too low to compete in Master League. |
