PvE Analysis

Leading up to its release, Xurkitree's coming mirrored Pokemon like Mamoswine as players held their collective breaths and hoped for a good moveset. In the end, Niantic didn't end up giving us the ideal moveset for this living Christmas tree light strand... but that doesn't matter because it's still got enough electrical energy to power a large city for a full year.

Xurkitree's moveset on release fell into about the middle of its potential, but its tremendous attack stat is more than enough to make up for that fact. This is a Pokemon that rivals the top Electric Type shadows in the game, making it a great investment for any raid team.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Thunder Shock + DischargeBest
Thunder Shock + Dazzling GleamSituational
  • Thunder Shock outpaces Spark by a tiny bit.
  • Discharge is the best Charged Move option.
  • Amazingly, Power Whip pulls ahead of Thunder despite lacking STAB. It's usable against Water Types, but still inferior.
  • Dazzling Gleam can work if you're desperate for Fairy Type attackers, but it's generally a waste of Xurkitree's talents.
