PvE Analysis

The great-wall of the Ultra Beasts, Stakataka is here to stay alive forever. This defensive behemoth can be a great TDO option, and its TDO actually isn't terrible either. However, this combo isn't quite enough to make Stakataka worth investing in, as it definitely has steep competition in anything that it wants to do. On top of that, all that it takes is a Fighting or Ground Type coverage move to render Stakataka's TDO lead basically removed.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Rock Throw + Stone EdgeBest
  • Rock Throw and Stone Edge is definitely the way to go for Stakataka.
  • Take Down, Bulldoze, and Flash Cannon are all sub-optimal for Stakataka.

PvP Analysis

Rock Throw + Stone Edge & Bulldoze or Flash Cannon

Rock Throw has genuinely superior performance when compared to Take Down, especially post-STAB boost, making it the only Fast Move worth considering. Stone Edge has sold power with a relatively low energy cost, making it the ideal first Charged Move pick for Stakataka. Bulldoze isn't a great Charged Move, but at least it has reasonable coverage and energy cost. Finally, Flash Cannon isn't a great move option, but it can be used if Stakataka's likely to face Fairy Types.

Stakataka isn't available at 1500 CP or under.

Ultra League: 1 / 5

Stakataka has major issues with double-weaknesses to two strong types, and a lack of spammable moves/relevant coverage. It generally won't work extremely well.

Master League: 1 / 5

Stakataka can work against select high-power Pokemon in the master League, but it's far too easily taken down by just about everything relevant that it can't wall.
