Shadow Wailord

PvE Analysis
Shadow Wailord is... not great. Just leave it in the ocean where it belongs.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Water Gun should be paired with Surf. This is Wailord’s only viable moveset on offense.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
- Rollout is the best Fast Move option for Wailord on defense, though Zen Headbutt is... okay.
- Watergun is weak on defense.
- Scald is the Charged Move of choice, with Surf standing as basically the same move, but weaker.
- Hyper Beam and Blizzard are too weak.
PvP Analysis
Rollout has the best PvP performance among Wailord's Fast Moves.
Surf has a lower energy requirement, while Scald has supportive functionality thanks to its ability to debuff Attack. Return has strong neutral coverage and solid power, but it's also very costly. Hyper Beam takes this to an additional extreme, but is usable. Blizzard is also a nuke with counter-coverage.
Great League | |
---|---|
As round as Shadow Wailord may be, a well-rounded Pokémon it is not. Despite having Snorlax-tier stamina, its Feebas-tier defense makes it faint to a swift breeze, especially with the Shadow defense drop. While Shadow Wailord may be a fun Pokémon to use (especially if it’s shiny), it’s not that great. | |
Ultra League | |
Shadow Wailord has the same issues in Ultra League as it does in Great, making it not particularly useful. | |
Master League | |
Shadow Wailord’s low maximum CP prevents it from performing in Master. |
