Shadow Tyrantrum

Fast

PvE Analysis
Tyrantrum has long been a strong Rock Type attacker, so given the Shadow boost it's obviously going to go through the roof. While not quite the best Rock Type, it's still an outstanding option, especially when its Dragon sub-typing gives it advantages.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Best | ||
---|---|---|
Good |
- Rock Throw and Meteor Beam is the moveset of choice for Shadow Tyrantruym
- Dragon Tail is a powerful move, and pairs well with Outrage to fulfill a Dragon-type attacker role.
- Charm is more useful for Fairy-type Pokemon.
- Stone Edge is behind Meteor Beam for Rock damage.
- Crunch lacks STAB and typing synergy.
- Earthquake is strong, but is meant for Ground-type Pokemon.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Best |
---|
- Charm is generally recommended for defense due to how common Fighting-type attackers are.
- Dragon Tail is not far behind due to STAB, but doesn't provide any meaningful coverage.
- Rock Throw performs the worst due to its lesser damage and increased risk of being resisted by attackers.
- Crunch can be spammed often on defense, making it more favorable for this specific purpose.
- Outrage is strong and can be used frequently, but is easy to dodge.
- Stone Edge hits hard and fast, assuming Shadow Tyrantrum can live long enough to access it.
- Meteor Beam is similar to Stone Edge, but it hits harder and has the trade-off of being slightly easier to dodge.
- Earthquake is too slow for defense.
PvP Analysis
Dragon Tail is recommended for its impressive STAB performance, as well as the highest energy generation among Shadow Tyrantrum's available Fast Moves. Charm offers strong damage output, but lacks STAB, and its slow energy gains are discouraging. Rock Throw is an alternative choice that gives Tyrantrum specific coverage at the cost of energy generation.
Crunch costs the least amount of energy, and enables Shadow Tyrantrum to more comfortably pressure shields. Stone Edge benefits from STAB to deal significant damage, though it has a moderately high energy cost. Earthquake is very similar: high damage, high energy cost, wide coverage. Outrage is a bit redundant if Dragon Tail is chosen as the Fast Move, but is still a strong option thanks to STAB, with a pretty high energy cost as well. It is not advisable to disregard Crunch for two high damage Charge Moves, due to the lack of shield pressure.
