PvE Analysis

With a 20% boost to its attacking prowess, this barnacle outpaces titans such as and Shadow Bellsprout! And the Rock typing can potentially help against normal attacks such as Body Slam! Cradily never had much hope in PVE, and the Shadow Form isn’t much different. Numerous superior Grass and Rock types have been available, even in Generation 1. It’s probably best to use it in PVP, though even that's iffy.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Bullet Seed + Grass KnotBest
  • Bullet Seed is Cradily's only STAB fast move, making it the move of choice in most cases.
  • Acid has better DPS and neutral coverage, while Infestation has higher energy gain.
  • Grass Knot outperforms Stone Edge on neutral damage, but both have their matchups.
  • Bulldoze serves no purpose on offense.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Bullet Seed or Infestation + Grass Knot or BulldozeBest
  • Bullet Seed has the highest energy generation and damage with STAB.
  • Infestation ties with Bullet Seed's energy gains while being off-type with its best defensive charged move.
  • Acid’s advantage is its neutral coverage, though it lacks STAB.
  • Grass Knot is strong and has 2 bars, which is appropriate for Shadow Cradily’s average bulk.
  • Stone Edge is the most likely charge move to hit if Shadow Cradily manages to use it.
  • Bulldoze is both weak and easily reactable.

PvP Analysis

Bullet Seed + Rock Slide and Grass KnotBest

Bullet Seed is Cradily’s best fast move, building energy pretty quickly and benefiting from STAB. Infestation offers the same energy generation, but falls behind slightly without STAB.

Rock Slide (75 power/45 energy) and Grass Knot (90 power/50 energy) benefit from STAB to provide very solid coverage, only being walled by Steel-types and certain dual-type Fighting Pokémon. Stone Edge (100 power/55 energy) is an very good move, but it's rather expensive, and Rock Slide is often preferred as a result. Bulldoze (80 power/60 energy) isn’t very good. While you certainly could swap out either of the other moves to give you anti-Steel coverage, swapping Stone Edge leaves you hard walled by a lot of Flying-type Pokémon, and swapping Grass Knot just makes Cradily a worse version of Mud Shot/Stone Edge/Mud Bomb Quagsire (which is a better Great League investment anyway).

Great League3.5 / 5

Cradily's unique Rock / Grass typing allows it to break certain cores, such as those involving Lanturn and Noctowl. With solid bulk and good moves, Cradily is pretty reliable at this job. Vulnerabilities to Registeel and Counter users can be tough for it, but Cradily can leave a dent against most other things.

Ultra League3 / 5

Cradily can reach the Ultra League CP Cap at Level 50. It has a tougher time making progress in this league due to the prevalence of Giratina and Cobalion, and in general the cores that Cradily breaks are less common. Certain cups can still let Cradily shine though.

Master League0 / 5

Cradily can’t really compete in Master League.
