PvE Analysis

Shadow Bibarel just isn't worth a second glance. It's the rat of the generation, and offers almost nothing even with the coveted Shadow boost.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

  • Water Gun performs better on offense, and actually has a use in PvE.
  • Take Down gets STAB, but can't be Super Effective against anything, making it useless.
  • Surf enables Bibarel to fulfill a Water-type role.
  • Hyper Fang isn't a terrible move, but lacking a Super Effective multiplier is painful.
  • Hyper Beam has no use.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

  • Take Down is generally better for defense due to stronger stats, but can't be Super Effective.
  • Water Gun has worse stats for defense, but is more likely to be resisted by Grass-type attackers.
  • Hyper Fang hits harder on defense, and provides neutral coverage at best.
  • Surf isn't far behind in defensive performance, but Grass-type attackers laugh at it.
  • Hyper Beam is too slow for defense.

PvP Analysis

Water Gun provides decent damage and energy gain. Take Down is one of the worst fast moves in the game.

Surf (65 power/40 energy) and Hyper Fang (80 power/50 energy) provide great neutral coverage and good shield pressure. Hyper Beam is way too expensive to be useful.

Great League2 / 5

Bibarel's relatively unique Water/Normal typing lets it function as a wall to Froslass in certain cups, but otherwise its overall performance isn't too great. Its stats are average at best and its moveset is also just about as average.

Ultra League0 / 5
It's just not strong enough for the Ultra League.
Master League0 / 5

This is the big leagues, baby. Bibarel just doesn’t cut it.
