- Smack Down is a superior fast move to Iron Tail.
- Stone Edge is a good pair for Smack Down.
- Flamethrower and Flash Cannon don't serve a purpose.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Smack Down or Iron Tail + Flamethrower | Best |
---|
- Smack Down is very powerful on defense, though Iron Tail is just as good.
- Flamethrower might get one use before Shadow Bastiodon gets punched to death.
- Flash Cannon and Stone Edge are bad.
PvP Analysis
Smack Down + Stone Edge and Flamethrower |
---|
Smack Down sports high damage output backed by STAB, but has below-average energy generation.
Stone Edge takes advantage of STAB to deal considerable damage, but does cost quite a bit of energy. Flamethrower acts as a coverage option for when Bastiodon's Rock-type moves would be resisted, and is also valuable against other Steel-types. Flash Cannon costs the most amount of energy, and despite getting STAB, is not recommended due to its lack of relevancy in the meta.
Great League | 3.5 / 5 | |

Say hello to what's arguably the most polarizing Pokemon in Great League! Bastiodon is the epitome of the word "Wall," and not just because its face looks like that. Its insane bulk and long list of resistances allow it to effortlessly plow through just about anything that doesn't hit it super effectively. Thanks to Smack Down's high DPT, it can oppressively win many matchups without a single care about its opponent's shield advantage. Bastiodon is infamous for walling many Flying-, Fire-, and Fairy-type Pokemon in its long Great League career. On the other hand, Bastiodon's worst matchups are absolutely atrocious. Double weakness to Fighting and Ground leaves it extremely vulnerable to many, many Pokemon. his is further exacerbated by by Bastiodon's clumsy moveset. Just as how Bastiodon can effortlessly win some matchups simply by existing, it breaks apart just as easily when it comes face to face against these Pokemon, and no amount of shield advantage can save it. Regular Bastiodon is typically slightly preferred over Shadow Bastiodon for its increased bulk; Bastiodon is often used as a tanky anchor for more fragile Pokemon such as Shadow Victreebel and Wigglytuff. In doing so, it makes it easier to invest shields on them instead of Bastiodon. | ||
