PvE Analysis

Naganadel is one of the absolute strongest Poison Type attackers in the game, with a Dragon sub-typing to let it stand out with its double-resistance to Grass Type attacks. This all makes it an outstanding Pokemon, right...? Well, there's one word above that should instantly raise a red flag for just about anyone familiar with Pokemon Go's raid system: Poison. This is a type that sadly cannot keep up with its direct competition from other types at all when it wants to counter Grass Types, and its Dragon sub-typing is a hinderance when Fairy Types come into the equation.

Sadly, Naganadel is a good Pokemon, but it just doesn't have what it takes to be really good.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

  • Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb is definitely Naganadel's best possible moveset.
  • Air Slash and Acrobatics... can work? I suppose? But Flying is one of the strongest types in the game, so PLEASE just use some TMs.
  • Dragon Pulse, Dragon Claw, and Fell Stinger are not worth a second thought.

PvP Analysis

Poison Jab is a much better move than Air Slash

Dragon Claw is a cheap STABed Charged Attack and will be the move that Naganadel clicks the most. Sludge Bomb is a mid-cost STAB Charged Attack that can sometimes be a nuke. Fell Stinger can be used to boost Naganadel's attack, turning it into somewhat of a sweeper, but the move itself deals rather forgettable damage. Acrobatics is expensive but can provide coverage against some Bug- and Fighting-type Pokemon. Dragon Pulse is redundant and largely useless.

Great League2.5 / 5

Naganadel's typing is shared with Dragalge and is thus somewhat unique. When combined with Naganadel's more Poison-type focused moveset, it can claim some niche in being a Dragon-type that can shred Fairy-type Pokemon. Unfortunately, Naganadel is really fragile, and Poison is a rather bad offensive typing due to how common its resistances are. Ground- and Steel-type Pokemon are extremely common in the Great League, and Naganadel struggles to scratch them.

Ultra League2.5 / 5

Naganadel still runs into the same issues.

Master League2.5 / 5

The situation remains the same here, and Naganadel's stats aren't even high enough to make it a competent choice. As an Ultra Beast, it is also ineligible for Master Premier. One day, Eternatus will be released, where it will sharply eclipse Naganadel thanks to its gargantuan stats.
