PvE Analysis
Dynamax Butterfree has... issues. First up, its Attack and bulk are pretty low, to the point where it doesn't really stand out defensively or offensively. It CAN work on defense if facing down Ground Type moves thanks to its triple-resistance, but even then it needs Bug Bite to shine, which is an Elite move. It IS the current only Bug Type Dynamax option, but Bug is notoriously low on utility, and there are definitely better Bugs on the horizon/ All-in-all, if you're determined to raise this bug, then at least wait for its Gigantamax variant.
Best Dynamax Movesets
- Struggle Bug is a slow move that doesn't build energy very quickly, so it's not worth using. Stick with Bug Bite* despite the fact that it's Elite.
- If you're absolutely determined to use Dynamax Butterfree for Psychic damage, then Confusion can work, but it's slow and underwhelming thanks to Confusion's long damage window.
- If you want to give a defensive Dynamax Butterfree a shot, then Bug Bite* is an absolute must.
PvP Analysis
In PvP, Dynamax Pokemon are identical to their basic versions, except they can't use Return.
