PvE Analysis

Are you ready to farm candy?! Getting a Hydrapple is quite an investment. Sure, the 'Catch 7 Dragon Pokemon while buddied' isn't terrible, but if the 200 candy requirement PLUS item farming needed to score a Dipplin wasn't bad enough, they decided to make it require a whopping 400 additional candy to evolve into Hydrapple.

So what do you get once you've fed your apple enough candy to induce diabetes? ...not a lot, frankly. 216 Attack isn't really making any waves, especially on the Dragon side... which is where Hydrapple has its best general performance due to a better moveset on that side, sadly. For such a huge investment, the return is pretty poor for the moment. Right now, its only real hope is that its signature move from the main series, Fickle Beam, turns out great.... though the fact that it's Dragon and not Grass means that this group of 7 dragons living in an apple doesn't have a whole lot of hope on the PvE side.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

  • Dragon Tail and Outrage is the way to go for Dragon damage, while Bullet Seed and Seed Bomb is the way to go for Grass damage.
  • Rollout and Dragon Pulse are worthless for Hydrapple.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

  • Dragon Tail and Rollout are both good on defense, so either is a fine pick here.
  • Seed Bomb is great on Defense due to how frequently it comes out.
  • Outrage is also good. It's slower than Seed Bomb, but it hits very hard. It just might be best to not pir it with Dragon Tail to make Hydrapple a bit harder to wall.
  • Bullet Seed and Dragon Pulse are both underwhelming on defense.

PvP Analysis

Dragon Tail sports good power and high energy gains, allowing Hydrapple to throw out Seed Bombs and Outrages faster than it otherwise would. Speaking of; Seed Bomb is a solid move for spamming attacks and baiting shields, while Outrage hits hard for a quick take-down.

It's a great idea to bring Hydrapple to the Master League; those dragons and dogs are hungry!
