Frosmoth

PvE Analysis
There are a number of hoops to jump through in order to evolve Snom into Frosmoth, but is it worth it? Frosmoth can act on both of its types, taking on roles as an Ice or Bug Type attacker and an Ice Type attacker. However, it's pretty mediocre on both sides of the spectrum. Its moveset options are all just okay, and its Attack stat leaves much to be desired. For that reason, as of right now it's best to just evolve a Snom for the dex fill and leave it off of your raiding team.

- Powder Snow and Ice Beam is the way to go for Ice damage. Icy Wind falls behind.
- Bug Bite and Bug Buzz is the way to go for Bug damage.
- Hurricane is of little to no use on Frosmoth.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Great |
- Bug Bite is stronger than Powder Snow on defense, though both are pretty weak and the difference is a pretty small.
- Icy Wind is the strongest option for a Charged Move due to how frequently it comes out
- Bug Buzz is an okay option, but it does fall behind.
- Ice Beam is a weaker option than Icy Wind, and Hurricane probably won't have a chance to launch before Frosmoth drops.
PvP Analysis
Powder Snow is generally the fast move of choice here for its superior energy generation. The increased offensive power of Bug Bite has its moments, but Bug's horrible coverage makes it easy to basically shut down. Powder Snow also allows for Icy Wind spam and the resulting Attack debuffs. Bug Buzz rounds things out with a decently strong attack and a chance to debuff Defense.
Great League | ||
---|---|---|
Frosmoth is more Attack-balanced, meaning its stat total at 1500 CP will leave it pretty frail. Add to that an extremely exploitable typing, severe lack of coverage, and a lack of a killer move to make it rise above the competition, and Frosmoth doesn't perform extremely well in most cases. | ||
Ultra League | ||
Frosmoth can reach the 2500 CP needed for the Ultra League, but its overall performance is a bit lackluster. | ||
