Drampa

PvE Analysis
Ah, Drampa; the grandfatherly Dragon Type Pokemon of Alola. Drampa is a mediocre Dragon Type attacker amid a sea of mediocre Dragon Type Pokemon in Pokemon Go: if you happen to catch a high-IV and high-leveled individual, it can fill out your team until you catch a real dragon at some point in the future, but it's not worth investing in by any stretch of the imagination. I'd say it's best left to just babysit your kids like the pokedex talks about, but I'm not sure that I'd leave this thing's blank, soulless eyes alone and gazing at my children....
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Dragon Breath + Outrage | Best |
---|
- Dragon Breath and Outrage is the only way to go here.
- Fly is a great Charged Move, but not for Drampa.
- Extrasensory, Swift, and Dragon Pulse are not worth considering.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Extrasensory + Outrage | Best |
---|
- Extrasensory has higher power than Dragon Breath, and also sports counter-coverage against the Fighting Types that would prey on Drampa's Normal sub-typing.
- Outrage has the highest power and can hit other dragons pretty hard, though Dragon Pulse is harder to dodge at the cost of raw damage.
- Fly is also great
- Swift is on the weak side, but serviceable.
PvP Analysis
Dragon Breath benefits from STAB and has much better parameters overall than Extrasensory.
Swift is Drampa's bread and butter STAB option due to its cheapness and decent DPE. Fly covers pesky Fighting-type opponents and is Drampa's next cheapest option. Outrage is a decent move but is far too expensive to be used consistently, and Drampa already deals enough Dragon-type damage via Dragon Breath. Dragon Pulse is simply underwhelming.
Great League | 2.5 / 5 | |
---|---|---|
Drampa is a fragile Pokemon with a unique typing and a reasonably speedy moveset. It does not see much play in the open Great League because better Dragon-type options exist, such as Goodra, Dragonite, and Guzzlord. However, its unique typing and good moveset lends it some play in some cups | ||
Ultra League | 2.5 / 5 | |
Like in the Great League, Drampa doesn't find much of a notable niche here thanks to powerful Dragon-type options eclipsing it. While it does have a potent moveset, its frailty makes it a middling option at best. | ||
Master League | 0 / 5 | |
Master League is best known for its powerful Dragon-type Pokemon, in which Drampa is sadly not even remotely close to being one. |
