PvE Analysis

Aromatisse is mostly a dex entry, with inadequate stats and movesets to be useful in the meta. Its moderately high STA stat does make it more appealing for gym defense, as resistance to ubiquitous Fighting-type attackers is valuable. As a side note, a Mystery Box (AKA Meltan Box) can be supplemented for the 1 Incense evolution requirement.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Charm + MoonblastBest
  • Charm is the stronger fast move for offense.
  • Moonblast generally outperforms Draining Kiss on offense.
  • Psychic lacks STAB and is thus a downgrade, but still synergizes well against Fighting-types.
  • Charge Beam could pair with Thunderbolt to fulfill a budget Electric-type role, but Electric-type Pokemon are better options.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Charm + Psychic, Thunderbolt, or Draining KissBest
  • Charm hits hard on defense thanks to its high base power plus STAB.
  • Charge Beam is pretty poor for defense.
  • Psychic is generally the best charge move for defense, and also provides coverage against Aromatisse's weakness to Poison Pokemon.
  • Thunderbolt is decent for defense, but nothing extraordinary.
  • Draining Kiss doesn't deal a lot of damage even with STAB, but is more likely to be used as a 2-bar move.
  • Moonblast is too slow for defense.

PvP Analysis

Charm + Psychic and Thunderbolt or Moonblast

Charm is generally recommended due to STAB and a more direct correlation to Aromatisse's role as a Fairy-type. Charge Beam can be used to generate energy quicker and access charge moves sooner, but generally underperforms.

Psychic provides coverage against Aromatisse's weakness to Poison-types, while Thunderbolt can be useful against common Water Pokemon and is not resisted by Steel Pokemon. Moonblast and Draining Kiss both get STAB with the former being much stronger, though neither offer any additional coverage.

Great League3 / 5

As a Fairy-type, Aromatisse competes very closely with Clefable and Slurpuff, with almost identical results due to similar bulk and charge move timings. Aromatisse's flavor compared to its Fairy rivals is its access to Electric-type coverage in the form of Thunderbolt (and Charge Beam for a different style of play). This lets Aromatisse threaten Water Pokemon and perform slightly better vs Steel-types (when shields are down) that Clefable is walled against, while also having a hope against Poison-types. Charge Beam is likely not the most optimal use of Aromatisse, as it gives up strong fast move damage output to chase its rather costly charge moves, but can throw a curveball against unsuspecting opponents.

Ultra League3 / 5

Aromatisse and Clefable are almost identical in this league, and their performances are very similar due to their similar playstyle and stats. XL Candy is required to enable Aromatisse to reach the CP cap of this league, and like other "Charmers" Aromatisse can swing a lot of matchups to its favor if given both shields. However its shield pressure is quite lackluster.

Master League0 / 5

With at least 1 shield, Aromatisse can claim some wins against the popular Dragon-types in this league, but Togekiss is more suitable for Master League.
