Galarian Slowbro
PvE Analysis
Super Fighting Pokemon... Galarian Slowbro!
Galarian Slowbro has no impact on the PvE meta whatsoever, as its stats simply aren't remarkable at all. Its bulk and interesting typing makes it quite viable for gym defense due to its resistances against common Fighting-type attackers. However, Tyrannitar attackers can basically laugh at it since Focus Blast is the only threat, which is so easily dodged.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Poison Jab + Sludge Bomb | Best |
---|---|
Confusion + Psychic | Best |
- Poison Jab pairs with Sludge Bomb to fulfill a Poison-type role.
- Confusion pairs with Psychic to fulfill a Psychic-type role.
- Focus Blast doesn't synergize well.
- Surf also doesn't synergize well
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Confusion + Sludge Bomb, Brutal Swing, Surf, or Psychic | Best |
---|
- Confusion is the best fast move on defense by a significant gap.
- Poison Jab is decent with STAB, but a step down in damage output.
- Sludge Bomb has the shortest damage window, and as a 2-bar, deals good damage.
- Brutal Swing is a great defensive move that also offers counter-coverage against Ghost Types.
- Surf is 2-bar and covers Ground types. However, it's substantially weaker than Sludge Bomb against neutral targets.
- Psychic is very similar in performance, being slightly slower and slightly stronger.
- Focus Blast is way too easy to dodge to be meaningful.
PvP Analysis
Poison Jab + Brutal Swing and Surf* |
---|
Confusion deals slightly more damage than Poison Jab, while the latter provides slightly more energy gains. Either can be viable depending the typing coverage that's more preferable. Poison Jab is generally preferable as it is unique to Galarian Slowbro relative to its Slowpoke-family counterparts, and is a slightly better move in general.
Brutal Swing is Galarian Slowbro's cheapest Charged Attack and offers coverage against Ghost- and Psychic-type opponents. Surf is a moderately cheap option that aids in dealing with pesky Ground-type enemies. Sludge Bomb is a decent well-rounded Charged Attack, but it doesn't offer too much coverage. Psychic is somewhat underwhelming, but it can punish opposing Poison-type Pokemon who may otherwise be generally safe against Galarian Slowbro. Focus Blast is too expensive for consistent results, but its massive damage and coverage can catch opponents off guard - most notably by deleting tanky Steel- and Normal-type Pokemon.
Great League | 3 / 5 |
---|---|
Galarian Slowbro's interesting Poison/Psychic typing and movesets makes it quite solid against Grass and Fairy Pokemon in the meta (including Azumarill), picking various Fighting-types as well. Access to Surf gives Galarian Slowbro a decent amount of spammability and damage consistency. The main obstacle holding Galarian Slowbro back is its weaknesses to Ghost, Dark, and Ground, and there are plenty of users of those types in Great League. Nonethless, Galarian Slowbro can find use in some themed cups to make use of its rather unique typing and coverage. | |
Ultra League | 3 / 5 |
Much like in Great League, Galarian Slowbro's performance is similar in Ultra League. The decision on moveset options will have a meaningful impact on various matchups, with some favored over others. Its weaknesses still plague it in this league, further complicated by Giratina's omnipresence in the metagame. | |
