PvE Analysis

Some people call the relationship between Heatmor and Durant a "rivalry", but let's be totally honest here: it's an ant and an anteater. You do the math.

Durant is basically a weaker Scizor. It has no genuine utility in the PVE meta, and just can't make a dent regardless of what it does. It'd definitely got a cool design, and its Regional status gives it genuine value, but that's pretty much all that can be said about this poor, unfortunate insect.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Bite + X-ScissorBest
Metal Claw + Iron HeadBest
  • Bug Bite should be paired with X-Scissor. But Heatmor resists this moveset!
  • Metal Claw goes with Iron Head. But Heatmor resists this too! Oh no!
  • Stone Edge has the least utility on Durant. But it does keep away that nasty Heatmor!

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Metal Claw + X-Scissor or Iron HeadBest
  • Metal Claw is the move of choice, dealing better damage than Bug Bite.
  • X-Scissor is the charged move of choice thanks to having 3 bars.
  • Iron Head is a decent move as well with 2 bars.
  • Stone Edge only has one bar, but it can threaten Heatmor!

PvP Analysis

Bug Bite + X-Scissor and Stone Edge

Bug Bite is the preferred fast move due to its greater damage output and more meaningful coverage.

X-Scissor costs the least amount of energy which lets it bait shields, and takes advantage of STAB. Stone Edge is valuable for its wide coverage against common typings. Iron Head isn't as useful despite gaining STAB.

Great League1.5 / 5

Durant resembles that of Forretress, with identical typing and primary use of Bug Bite. Unfortunately a higher Attack stat reduces Durant's overall bulk, and while its access to Stone Edge is better than Forretress's Rock Tomb, not having the power and coverage of Earthquake limits the amount of threat Durant can pose against the meta. Interestingly enough, Durant can actually beat Forretress in even shielding scenarios with successful shield baiting due to faster access to its charge moves.

Ultra League0 / 5

Having the huge issue of losing badly to both Giratina and Registeel, Durant does win against Umbreon and Psychic-types. Access to Stone Edge is also valuable, in particular against Lapras, Lugia, and Togekiss. That's not enough to make the little ant truly shine, though.

Master League0 / 5

With a max CP of 3007 Durant lacks sufficient stats to compete well in Master League. Its plethora of resistances still enable wins in some matchups where Durant has a typing advantage, isn't enough to deal with various legendary Pokemon who boast significantly higher stats.
