PvE Analysis

The best use of Oricorio on offense is please don't.

On defense, Oricorio is pretty weak. Pa'u style's Psychic sub-typing has some real advantages, in particular if nestled between a pair of Fighting-weak defenders, but other Pokemon can do this job better. Its best utility here is setting it on a gym outside of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean Islands, and the Pacific-area as a bit of a brag.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Air Slash + HurricaneBest
  • Air Slash is objectively better than Pound on offense.
  • Hurricane provides maximum damage output, but it's only slightly ahead of Aerial Ace, which is far easier to make use of and will tend to have stronger average performance.
  • Air Cutter is the weakest move option.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Pound + Aerial AceBest
  • Pound has off-type advantage with Oricorio's Charged Moves, but it's resisted by most of the same types as Air Slash, so either one is fine.
  • Aerial Ace is the best defensive option, Air Cutter is a slightly worse version.
  • Oricorio will probably drop before it can use Huricane.

PvP Analysis

Air Slash + Aerial Ace and Hurricane

Air Slash provides a balance of damage output and energy generation, and also benefits from STAB. Pound is terrible and can't be Super Effective.

Oricorio suffers from the lack of any coverage option. Aerial Ace is the best option due to its lesser energy cost, enabling it to be used more often to pressure shields. Air Cutter deals almost the same damage but costs more energy, making it a downgrade. Hurricane is not required, but it has a niche when shields are down, assuming Oricorio survives long enough to use it.

Great League

The Pa'u style of Oricorio sports a Psychic subtyping, which unfortunately isn't very defensively synergistic with its Flying subtyping. Without any coverage options or utility this Pokemon has very poor performance in the meta. It's not very fast or bulky either.

Ultra League

Oricorio can only expect wins against Pokemon weak to Flying-type attacks, which to its credit, do exist. Unfortunately it's not good against the overall meta, so save your Stardust.

Master League

Pa'u Oricorio can foresee its massive losses in Master League, which is why it doesn't compete here. Or at all.
