PvE Analysis

Floatzel made its GO debut without much fanfare, and so its performance flies under the radar of most players. It doesn't have top tier offensive power or much bulk to boot, but it's still a surprisingly decent Water attacker - just maybe not worth burning a lot of resources on.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

Waterfall or Water Gun + Hydro PumpBest
  • Waterfall is slightly better than Water Gun on paper, but the latter is more suited for a glass cannon like Floatzel, as it generates energy quicker and it's easier to dodge with.

  • Hydro Pump is Floatzel’s Water charged move of choice, beating out Aqua Jet.

  • Swift has no offensive purpose on Floatzel.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

Waterfall + Aqua Jet Best
  • Waterfall is the harder hitting fast move.

  • Aqua Jet can be fired more often than Swift, which is stronger with better coverage.

  • Floatzel is likely to faint before having a chance to use Hydro Pump.

PvP Analysis

Waterfall or Water Gun + Swift and Liquidation

Both Water Fast Attacks are just about as good as each other. Waterfall offers more immediate damage, while Water Gun has slightly more energy gain and a considerably shorter duration.

Liquidation is Floatzel's primary attack, while Swift provides some coverage. Aqua Jet is strictly inferior to Liquidation, while Hydro Pump is just too expensive

Great League

Don't use Floatzel. No really, it's a terrible Water-type Pokemon with a mediocre moveset in a metagame where many other good Water types exist.
