PvE Analysis

Shadow Camerupt doesn't really gain anything worthwhile with the Shadow Boost. It's still low on the damage scale for Fire, but at least it's fairly good for Ground.

Best PvE Offensive Moveset

  • Incinerate performs slightly better than Ember, though the two aren't very different.
  • Rock Smash is a poor move.
  • Overheat is the preferred charge move for its high power and STAB.
  • Like Groudon, Earthquake is on par with Solar Beam in neutral matchups.
  • Earth Power performs better than Earthquake, but doesn't really pair well with Camerupt's fast moves.

Best PvE Defensive Moveset

  • Incinerate is the best Fast Move in the game with its huge base power.
  • Rock Smash is on par with Ember, but with better coverage.
  • Camerupt is too frail to use 1-bar charge moves on defense, but if it does get one off, Solar Beam will hurt its counters the most.
  • Earth Power is the only multi-bar option available to Camerupt, so that becomes its best move on gym defense.

PvP Analysis

Incinerate offers noticeably more energy than Ember, while being somewhat difficult to use with its long animation. Ember is much easier to use and deals slightly more damage by comparison. Rock Smash is pretty bad.

Due to the relatively high energy costs of Camerupt's charge moves, Earth Power gets used the most and also benefits from STAB. Overheat ties for the cheapest energy cost, and is very powerful with STAB, but is difficult to use due to its self-debuff. Solar Beam could also be a secondary option to counter Camerupt's weaknesses, but it's very likely that our smokin hot camel will be washed away before it gets enough energy to use it.

Great League2 / 5

Camerupt ain't so hot in PvP unfortunately. An offensive stat distribution lowers its overall bulk, and its typing also invites the ubiquitous Water-types to come and wash it away. Another major setback for Camerupt is the lack of a good moveset, as all of Camerupt's charge moves demand a lot of energy to use, which its fast moves can't provide. If you're looking for a Ground and/or Fire-type candidate, it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Ultra League1 / 5

Camerupt's only role is due to its Fire coverage, shutting down Steel-types and resisting Fairy-type attacks, with some struggles against Grass-types due to Camerupt's Ground-typing. Unfortunately a cumbersome moveset and poor bulk holds Camerupt back significantly, and other Fire-types would be more ideal for its role.

Master League0 / 5

Camerupt is mostly a dex filler, hopefully you realized that by now.
