PvE Analysis

Ivysaur is a fan-favorite from Smash Bros, but it's not the best here. If you have a good one, do yourself a favor and wait to evolve it until an event that allows it to learn Frenzy Plant rolls back around. Honestly, Venusaur needs it to be good.

PvP Analysis

Vine Whip is the preferred fast move for Ivysaur due to greater energy generation, which allows Ivysaur to take advantage of its powerful charge moves. Razor Leaf is a more polarizing fast move that focuses on dealing damage without requiring energy or being denied by shields, though its slow energy generation causes Ivysaur to lose some neutral matchups.

Power Whip is a very strong move that takes advantage of STAB to be a major threat to anything that doesn't resist it. Sludge Bomb acts as a good STAB coverage move that can also give it an edge against other Grass-types.

Great League

Being a step down from its evolved form Venusaur but still capable of fulfilling that same role, Ivysaur sports similarly well rounded stats and almost the same identical moveset. While Power Whip is a direct downgrade from Frenzy Plant, and also demands 5 more energy, it is still a powerful move that can cause major damage to any opponents who don't resist Grass. Being slightly more bulkier than Venusaur is also a nice feature, though not having the slightly cheaper Frenzy Plant can cause Ivysaur to lose that matchup if Venusaur gets the shield bait. Wins against most fellow Grass-types are a nice plus thanks to a Poison-typing and access to Sludge Bomb. Just keep in mind that because Ivysaur's CP is much lower than Venusaur, it needs to be powered up to a much higher level, which can be costly.

Ultra League

With a max CP of 1699, Ivysaur lacks sufficient stats for Ultra League.

Master League

Master League doesn't really favor Grass-types anyways.
