Florges

PvE Analysis
Florges often takes newer and unsuspecting players by surprise, given its appearance that suggests the obvious Grass sub-typing. But don't be fooled, as Florges is a pure Fairy-type! Unfortunately other Fairy-type Pokemon like Gardevoir outperform Florges in the Fairy attacker role, making this Pokemon more of a dex filler than a meta attacker. Best of luck collecting all five colors and their shiny variants once they're released!
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Best | |
---|---|
Okay |
- Fairy Wind synergizes the best with the role that Florges takes on.
- Vine Whip is better for Grass-type Pokemon.
- Razor Leaf falls slightly behind in performance, but not by much.
- Tackle can't be Super Effective against anything.
- Psychic surprisingly boasts the highest damage output against a neutral defender.
- Moonblast is the recommended Charge Move when Super Effective due to STAB.
- Petal Blizzard and Trailblaze have similar performance. The former is a hair stronger, but the latter is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper to use, making it better the majority of the time. Still, it's probably best to stick with an actual Grass Type for this role.
- Disarming Voice performs poorly despite benefiting from STAB and being a multi-bar Charge Move.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Best |
---|
- Razor Leaf hits hard on defense and should be chosen in this scenario.
- Vine Whip deals almost half as much damage by comparison.
- Fairy Wind is a bit weaker on defense.
- Tackle can't be Super Efffective against anything, only neutral at best and resisted at worst.
- Disarming Voice is recommended for defense due its frequent use as a multi-bar Charge Move.
- Psychic performs well on defense due to its fast animation timing and coverage against Poison-types.
- Petal Blizzard and Moonblast might not be used before Florges faints.
- Trailblaze is okay, but the fact that it's the same type as Razor Leaf means that Florges could be easily walled out.
PvP Analysis
Fairy Wind offers high energy generation and benefits from STAB. Vine Whip performs similarly, just as a different typing without STAB. Razor Leaf is an alternative choice that deals stronger damage, but makes it very difficult to access Charge Moves often.
Chilling Water, Florges's Community Day move, is a relatively cheap move that gives Florges better coverage against Fire- and Steel-type enemies than its other moves. Its Attack debuff paired with its swift pacing can quickly turn Florges into a challenging Pokemon to take down. Moonblast or Disarming Voice act as Florges's primary Fairy-damage output. The former is powerful and is usually the preferred option, but it is expensive, while the latter is reliable but doesn't quite melt targets. Trailblaze is a relatively cheap move that provides Florges with coverage against Water-, Ground- and Rock-type Pokemon. It also turns Florges into a sweeping threat with its Attack boosts. Petal Blizzard was an okay surprise coverage move, but Trailblaze is just better. Psychic is horrible despite it providing coverage against Poison-type Pokemon
Great League | |
---|---|
Florges is a decent Fairy-type in the Great League, owing to its decent stats and surprisingly wide coverage. It's not a top tier Pokemon due to competing options such as Azumarill and Togekiss, but it is nonetheless a competent option in part because it lacks a secondary typing that makes other Fairies more exploitable. | |
Ultra League | |
Florges's decent bulk is bolstered with the higher CP cap in the Ultra League, further improving its ability to halt its opponent's progress with repeated Chilling Water debuffs. The Ultra League is Florges's best league; Florges not only covers a handful of dangerous threats such as Virizion, Kyurem, Zygarde, and Galarian Moltres, it is also a remarkably difficult Pokemon to take down due to its coverage and artificial bulk. Beware of Empoleon, Tentacruel, and Scizor, as they can make short work of Florges. | |
Master League | |
The Dragon-heavy metagame of the Master League gives Florges an opportunity to find a niche. For a short time, between the releases of Kyurem's fusions and the Crowned forms of Zacian and Zamazenta, Florges was even one of the best Pokemon in the metagame. However, the release of Crowned Zacian and Zamazenta has significantly reduced Florges's niche. It also now has to compete with the buffed Primarina and Togekiss, and it simply lacks the power it used to wield. |
