Probopass
PvE Analysis
Probopass has the 'stache to do great and mighty things, but sadly this glorious facial hair writes a check that its stats just cannot cash. It's probably best to not make this investment.
Best PvE Offensive Moveset
Rock Throw + Rock Slide | Best |
---|
- Rock Throw gets STAB and pairs with Rock Slide to fulfill a Rock-type role.
- Magnet Bomb is a slight downgrade, and doesn't synergize with either fast move as cleanly.
- Spark is an Electric-type without STAB, and pairs with Thunderbolt to fulfill a budget Electric role, but consider Electric Pokemon instead.
Best PvE Defensive Moveset
Rock Throw + Magnet Bomb | Best |
---|
- Rock Throw has much higher damage output on defense than Spark.
- Magnet Bomb is the easiest to dodge, but can be used frequently as a 3-bar move.
- Rock Slide hits the hardest and is the most difficult to dodge, but is more likely to be resisted by attackers.
- Thunderbolt may threaten Water-type attackers, but gets walled by Ground-type attackers.
PvP Analysis
Rock Throw + Rock Slide and Thunderbolt |
---|
Rock Throw sacrifices energy gains for much stronger STAB damage output, which can be useful for certain matchups. Spark is useful for its fast energy generation, though its damage output is poor.
Rock Slide ties for the least amount of energy, benefits from STAB, and provides wide coverage. Thunderbolt is useful for its coverage against common Water-types and neutral damage against most other Steel-types, though it's demands a fair bit of energy and doesn't get STAB. Zap Cannon can deal a lethal blow if it lands (or debuff those it doesn't KO), but its energy cost is rather extreme. Magnet Bomb is an alternative move that benefits from STAB, but Steel-type coverage isn't particularly valuable against the meta.
Great League | 3 / 5 |
---|---|
Though it is very tanky, Probopass is a worse Bastiodon in almost every way. In formats where Bastiodon is banned, Probopass can serve as an alternative. Like Bastiodon, Probopass has polarizing matchups - it wins many dominantly, but it also runs into numerous matchups where not even a 2-shield advantage can save it. | |
Ultra League | 0 / 5 |
Probopass reaches quite close to the Ultra League CP cap, making it a fairly tanky Pokemon. It doesn't have to deal with Bastiodon outclassing it anymore, but its stats are just not oppressive enough (compared to Bastiodon's stats in the Great League) to really stand out. While GL Bastiodon dominates neutral matchups due to sheer stats, Probopass can't claim to do the same in the Ultra League. | |
Master League | 0 / 5 |
Probopass simply doesn’t get strong enough to compete in Master League. |
