On the contrary, I'm personally stoked. I'm content with my only SC Gengar as a collectible (and 96% to boot), and soon I can obtain a different collectible Gengar? Sign me up!!!
Haven't run the numbers but I don't believe SC or Lick will have a significant advantage over each other? As attackers these Gengar will be as good as Gengar is capable of.
Given how frail Gengar is, it is very likely that an SC Gengar will faint before launching the second SB that will bring it up to parity with Lick.
I say this from experience with SC/SB and H/SB Gengars against confusion Mewtwo and Alakazam. SC/SB always faints just before the second SB hits, whereas the H/SB is nearly always able to successfully launch a second SB. Lick has EPS that is very similar to hex.
Thats what I mean, its not shadow claw, and even though shadow claw's still great, its now not as good as lick, but theres going to be people who are miffed off that it isnt technically shadow claw, even though its something better
Its actually so much better, i've heard some people in my chat saying its a more dodge friendly move to let it be a glass cannon better.
This is why I am glad I didnt bother wasting nay CTM's on mewtwo, and also makes me less sad about not knowing I could have tm'd my 96% mewtwo to shadow ball
That is a good point. I could see it both ways.
Personally I think if niantic just said that it was getting lick from the get go, the hype about it wouldn't be as much as now. After 3 months of bad CD's, then MM metagross beign as good as it is drastically boosted the hype about it, I think a similar thing is at play here. Making out expectations drop then bringing it back up with the announcement of lick would get us a lot more excited for it
Most of the people I know didnt really care for eevee beyond the mass dust either (personally I cant stand the overrated evolution pokemon myself, but I like some of its evolutions, cant wait to evolve my 985 into glaceon)
I'm not as sure, after we had FP Venasaur, then we had DP ampharosbe a bit of a killjoy aside from people who love ampharos, then we had BB charz, I saw a ton of people get super hyped because Charizard was good and you didnt need a glass cannon nonlegendary firetype as much. The same level of hype wasnt as present when we got SD tyranitar because we were expecting soemthing great out of it. Similar for MM metagross, after the 3 months of lackluster moves (I know HC is OP AF, but blastoise is trash statwise and cant use it) know a ton of people who were actually expecting it to be terrible because of the previous CD's and then were completely blown away when it was beyond their best hopes.
