Why not Zap Cannon for Electivire

You'd think Zap Cannon would be the move of choice for Electiver at 140 but wild charge is optimal at 90, is there a reason why no Zap Cannon for this pokemon?

Wild Charge is wayyy better. It's the best electric charge move. Why on earth would you even want Zap Cannon over it?

Besides, Electivre can't even learn Zap Cannon in the main games. So it shouldn't learn it in Go either.

why is it better when its damage (90) is 50 lower than zap cannon (140), maybe i am missing something?

Being a 2 bar move, Wild charge takes 50 energy to do 90 damage.

Being a 1 bar move, Zap Cannon takes 100 energy to do 10 damage.

For the energy that Zap Cannon uses to do 140 energy, Wild charge does 180 damage (90 x 2).

That's what you're missing.

Adding on to this great reply. Electivire especially benefits from a two bar move since its rather frail. With it's bulk(or lack thereof) it'll be able to get off more damage with Wild Charge than Zap Cannon. Which in that case energy would very well be wasted.

As mentioned above, electrivire cant learn zap cannon.

But if you want to compare the two moves, wild charge is a two bar move so you essentially double the attack power when you compare it to a single bar move like zap cannon. Now wild charge is 180, 40 over the 140 power of zap cannon. Plus when you figure in energy loss and versatility, 2 bar moves are more usefull in general. Wild charge just IS better
