Which shiny(s) did you almost fall off your rocker trying to get?

First major one was charmander, completely shiny whiffed on its 1st CD. Played a lot and ended up getting two char shiny on CW.

I did very lot of Groudon raids hoping for a shiny, got one at the end of the last day.

Playing pretty hard this event fishing for a machop shiny...woke up and walked at 5:15am Sunday morning...I just got one at 1am Monday. (Level 17—7a/14/15). During the hunt I did find a shiny meditite (already had one).

After all that footwork, sorry Mankey, shutting down the shiny hunts.

Main missing one: Still never found a shiny swablu, but at this point I just casually click on those.

I don't usually hunt for shinies and if I don't get one, I rarely worry about it. I don't mind them, but the true motivation to play a lot is usually something else, like the stardust bonus we have now.

Funny that you mention Swablu because it's the one shiny that I've randomly gotten the most. In total I've caught 11, 3 of which were from Safari with a boosted chance and 8 of which were completely random wild catches.

Several people here that are my peers are looking to scale back their playing. Getting the Machop shiny was a step for me, but I'm also a bit flummoxed by Dialga. I've had 21 chances to get better than 2276cp, hasn't happened. My two boosted catches were 2800 and 2803. I maxed a Palkia, so I have dragon fatigue, but I'd like to hold on to a Dialga (lucky or near2290).

An added incentive, I want to not feel I'm missing out by Go Plus playing an extra account that has 150 red balls and 125 storage spots. My account has but 25 reds.

Sounds like my ordeal with Kyogre a year ago, sometimes it just be like that. At least you still have some time to try, wish you luck there.

I have three shiny Magikarp and still dream about getting a 100% shiny Magikarp.

The one CD I went with mentality of "no resting until I catch a shiny" was Beldum, even more than to Charmander's CD.

Until now I have never found a shiny Magikarp nor Pikachu (!!!). It sucks, but what can I do. Groudon was a major issue, though: everyone else got it in my raid group and me nothing after 30 raids. Ended up trading it.

All the others I was either lucky enough to get one or two during their spotlight time or I absolutely don't care about them (ehem... Caterpie, Pidgey). Now I'm still hunting Machop, but... the green Machamp is not too beautiful, is it? Anyway, worth for me checking on each I see.

Some shinies (like Dragonite) look as if they are sick and about to vomit!

I maxed a lucky shiny 15a/14/15 OR Dragonite, so it is my #1...that look has gradually grown on me. I decided to evolve my shiny Machop and at the start it is a good look. Been cloudy this whole event, caught several 1100-1150 Machops. After some rest, well, I'm spoiled/greedy enough to also want a shiny one of those.

If only Dragonite's shiny was the same pretty pink as Dratini and Dragonair. Too bad the early gen shinies are so random.

Ackchyually, early gen shinies are anything but. Because space reasons, shinies were generated by shifting the color palette by one with some notable exceptions, such as Gyarados and Charizard (Gen 3+) which were custom made. This is also why there's observable patterns if you compare a standard sprite sheet to a shiny one - Pokemon predominantly consisting of certain colors tended to have similar shinies.

This method of generation lasted until Gen 6 when they began to design them individually. This is why Gens 6 and 7 pretty much have none of the the notorious puke green shinies and why very few fall under the "it's pretty much the same" category.

During the first fighting showdown event I actually chased Makuhita and Meditite decently hard. Found a Makuhita 2 days into the event and I've yet to find a Meditite.

Most recently it was Meltan, and after 6 or 7 boxes I still came up without one. Without owning a Switch, it was pretty much a scramble to meet up with someone every 3-4 days.

I was really pleased to get a level 35 shiny Growlithe near Christmas, I got a shiny Omanyte late in the game, also recently got a shiny Kabuto at a nest. The two shiny Bulbasaur I caught weren't CD but random encounters. Those are things I believe might eventually happen with normal playing+nests. Without getting the shiny Machop in this event I wouldn't expect to get one later on, I often see Makuhita and Mankey spawn but I rarely see Machop spawn.
