If we're looking at another few days of Registeel, followed by a month of Regirock, and a Chicorita community day in September, well, that's not exciting in the least. Ho-hum.

On the other hand, Niantic has been pretty good lately about getting the player base fired up for the next thing. Problem is, as of now, there is no clear 'next thing' to be excited about. Maybe Gen4 will release, maybe the level cap will go up, maybe PvP will start, but we can't get too excited about maybes.

I think it would be smart, and good marketing, for them to tease the roadmap for the next few months, preferably before 8/19, when the trading discounts end and we get a raid boss shift. (Of course, we could get shiny Groudon/Rayquaza before Regirock, which would be cool too.) But right now, all I have to get excited about is powering up a few pokemon, thinking about how Gen4 will play out (with all the associated questions), and wondering what's next.

Yes, I know the Yokosuka event is happening at the end of the month. Not planning on flying across the US and the Pacific to get there. And presumably, we'll unlock a Moltres raid day, and a 'bigger reward' which will likely be the full Celebi quest (or it could be the announcement that Raid Days will become a permanent feature, which would be nice). But these unlocks are pretty much automatic, and Moltres is about to be surpassed by Heatran. A shiny is/will be nice, but not that meaningful to me (although I do like my shiny Gyarados, helps me tell which one I'm on in a Groudon raid). Got 5 shinies of 12 catches on Zapdos raid day, but doesn't do much for me.

Anyone have any concrete info on the near future? Rumors are fun, but that and a couple bucks will get you a bus ride. What does the roadmap look like?

As far as I can tell no one has anything concrete. The closest thing we had was the supposed evolution event that was leaked and had everyone fired up, but then we got the trading event instead. It was speculated we'd get Glaceon/Leafeon as part of Eevee days but that also fizzled into nothing.

So now we're back at the "wait and see" stage of the game. The only hope left for the evolution event would be if they planned it after the stardust week from the Japan event weekend. Not to mention there's still the "ultra bonus" without so much as a hint of what it could be.

At least those of us that got considerable XP from raiding Rayquaza 50+; Kyogre 60+, Groudon and Latios 40+ times are complaining less than we would about nouveau XPers. Those whippersnappers that "good friend and erase" dozens of times a day, raking in XP.

Never even thought of that. I suspect Niantic will figure out a fix for that, and implement it well before 2025.

IMO, exp is overrated. What's the point in rushing to 40 if you have nothing to show for it? I'm level 39 and any itch to hit 40 is gone, I just want more dust.

I felt the same way, also at 39 now, but the level cap will go up at some point, and there should be some benefit to being level 41 instead of 40, so we'll see. I still evolve my 12s, and pop a lucky egg when it's smart to do so, but I won't spend on them.

My preferred roadmap, in no particular order:

1) Revamp of the Combat system
2) Revamp of the Gym system
3) Introduction of Friendship Quests
4) Introduction of Nintendo Switch Storage
5) Introduction of Breeding
6) Introduction of Training to raise IV's
7) Introduction of Training to gain exclusive Moves
8) Introduction of TRAINING in some way - I'm called a (bleeping) TRAINER and I never actually TRAIN anything.
9) Introduction of a Story of some kind
10) Introduction of features to allow the conversion of One Thing into Another (ie: Candies to Stardust, Potions to Revives, etc.)
11) EX Raid: Bidoof

1-3: Yes plz
4: I don't see the need for this honestly. PoGo is a mobile game, not a console one. Upping the maximum amount of box storage would effectively do the same thing.
5-7: Sure. Bottlecaps could be introduced with limits.
8: It's okay, you can swear on the internet.
9: I actually like that there isn't a story to this game. Not every game needs one and with Gen 7 being Cutscenes: The Games I'd appreciate if they backed off the story side in favor of exploration and general challenge. Special research serves this aspect well enough, they just need to get off their asses and do more of them.
10: Interesting idea, would likely always be under constant revision due to balance reasons.
11: Hell yeah brother.

How about Team Rocket NPCs? They could spawn like Pokemon, but you fight them for a reward.

We just need Gen 4 before summer ends!

My notoriously inaccurate pokemon spider sense is saying that they will drop Gen4 on us soon, but will make it as complete of a surprise as is possible, given that everyone and their cousin expects it. Heck, the real surprise would be to announce that they are focusing on improving the current gameplay and won't be releasing Gen4 until next spring.
