Unable to login with PTC for a week+
I have been playing since around the start of the game and only had my PTC linked, not Google or Facebook. Over this time I would need to randomly log in again on my phone with the PTC account which always worked up until a little over a week ago. Now when I log in it will spin for 50 seconds and give the unable to authenticate error. I can log in to the official PTC website without issue. One thing I do note is that if I put the incorrect password in it charge the error to incorrect username or password error, so it seems to be doing something. I have tried uninstalling and clearing cache, but no luck. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate.

I was having this issue with an account connected with google. No matter what I tried I kept getting "unable to authenticate" when trying to log in. I believe the issue I was experiencing was because there are login issues for some users on IOS 10 and 9. Perhaps you are too?
The support team were not very helpful. They just told me that the issue was on my end and that my device was not compatible. But their website says that iPhone 5s with IOS 9 or above is supported so...
I did eventually find a workaround on my own but it does require that you own another device on which you can login to your account. My iPad is on IOS 11 and I had no issues logging in on that. I then linked my account to Facebook on my iPad. Then I went back to my phone and logged into my account using Facebook which gave me no issue.
I am using Samsung Android phone (Android 8.0), and I even went to my old phone (also Android but 6.0), when ahead and set it back up and downloaded from play store on it and it gave the same behavior of after entering information just spins for about 50 seconds and then says unable to authenticate. I have read the niantic help (which is not helpful at all) bit still have the same issue.
