Tyranitar again.....

Is there any point in evolving a Tyranitar with the current move sets available other than for the podex? Just asking because I evolved one, got bad moves, but could try again. I just can't find a single use for this mon other than high CP gym placement. Should I just wait before trying again hoping it gets a good STAB or better type coverage for counters for a defensive quick move in future? Does anyone use this guy? And what for? Thanks!

He's the best direct attacker in the game besides Dragonite and comparable to him? He also beats Blissey with the most health to take down another one of them or a Snorlax among other defenders.

agreed^^ my B/SE trex is my most effective attacker vs blissey and snorlax. SE also useful for dragonite matchup. future legendaries beware of SE as well.

i got B/Se and he is the Bomb for blissey and B/Cr might be very good when psychic legendaries come out.

His stats are monsterous. His attack is very close to what you get out of glass cannons like Alakazam yet he also has great defense and HP. Anything that doesn't resist him is doomed.

He's the 2nd best attacker. Dragonite with DT/OR is MUCH better in general, but TTar is very good. So if you don't have much in the way of Dragonites, then he's a great general attacker.

And as a defender, he has huge CP, which is by far he most important factor in the current game. We all like to talk about defensive movesets, strong defenders, etc, but outside of Blissey every Mon is easily beaten so if you want to be in gyms more than a day you need high CP. And TTar has highest CP.
