That's just awesome for grinding!
But for me pokemons are stay on map till I tap it again, so no way to see whether it caught, escaped or fled

Try pulling the the ball selection menu with your left thumb while keeping it pressed, this will not open the menu. Then throw the ball with your right finger, after it hit lift your left thumb, this will open the menu, then select a ball and exit.
That what works for me.

You don't even need to select a ball, just tap somewhere on the screen, it will close ball selection menu
