Suggestion: Idea for finding raids
IF Niantic are going to continue to block the use of raid scanners >
Could/should they use the gym badges to give us (optional) notifications for when an egg spawns on that gym?
Bronze: tier 1-2, Silver: tier 3-4, Gold: tier 5
OR limit this to a(n optional) notification/pop-up on gyms you are defending, instead of us currently having to go in and check each gym individually every hour.
Thoughts?

Niantic is not "continuing to block the use of raid scanners". They made a change that broke the scanners and that's it. Now it's up to the people who maintain scanners to find a way to get them working again, but Niantic isn't actively doing anything to prevent it.
And as for the actual idea, I'm all for it. I don't think it'd even be that hard to pull off seeing how they already have the code in place that lets us see the raids at gyms we have a defending pokemon at.
Everything involving checking gym status, searching for raids and berrying should be done through the perfectly good and sortable Gym Badge screen, period.
It's 2018, Niantic should be ashamed of themselves for thinking the dumb system they currently have in place was good enough to release into the wild and leaving it untouched for so long
I strongly suspect that Niantic’s employees are all located in a gym-dense city (SF) and don’t see a problem. They all can probably see a wealth of gyms from any given location.
I would like to challenge them to a field trip to a rural or even suburban area and tell them to complete as many raids as possible. Maybe if they experienced the frustration of having to drive (often in rush hour traffic) to scout for eggs, only to have one be reported on the other side of town (and with only 20 minutes remaining) they might start to get it.
